Map of the Soul 7: Persona, Shadow & Ego in the World of BTS

Made me reflect, interesting read on BTS and their use of Jung's psychology
Summary: I enjoyed this book. As an ARMY I was fascinated with the insights into BTS's work and why I became so immersed and connected with them. I was also interested in learning more about Jung's psychology and the different aspects, especially the shadow self.I wanted to include some sections that left an impact on me: (Ego)"ON is also very much about resilience, about overcoming difficulties and going on.". "A strong ego is not fragile; it can face dangers, get bounced around, suffer failures and losses, and still it recovers. But a fragile ego cannot take very much before it breaks." . "The Ego that is represented in the musical album Map of the Soul 7 by BTS is a strong ego; able to suffer and able to act."(Shadow)"You may be more likely to witness that shadow when good people become exhausted, stressed, or tired." "Some of our most important and transformative experiences in life come from painful, shadow-filled moments like this."Helped me understand why I connect with and love BTS:"BTS has a message. many pop artists also carry a message, but often it's more about anger and outrage than about consciousness, identity, love, and such positive psychological developments." "The rich artistry of BTS's latest album speaks for itself precisely because Longfellow was right that music is the universal language. The proof is the enormous worldwide appeal that BTS has across so many cultures and languages."There's a lot more. I will be reading his other books.

Map of the Soul 101
I really enjoyed this book. The format is more like a collection of essays than a typical chapter book. It provides a good overview of Jungian theories and how they connect to BTS concepts and music. All the connections BTS makes to other fields of study are so clever.

Excellent book for exploring the map of the soul album and the actual book
This book is a must if you enjoy the album. Track by track lyric analysis helps me to appreciate the songs even deeper. Lots of good real life takeaways for mental health and reflections.

all armys should read this at some point!
I absolutely love this book! If you love BTS or Jungian psychology you’ll love this book! Even if you don’t I would still recommend it because this branch of psychology is so interesting. This book— along with the BTS songs it dissects— touches on current subjects and issues that are relevant to anyone no matter their age/race/gender.

Highly reccomend for anyone, it's a compilation of the concepts, addresses & includes BTS fans.
Full Brief Review:Intro:If you dont know, this book is a compilation of other books by Murray Stein (about the infamous work by Carl Jung), made in response to the accentuate incorporation by boyband BTS of book "Map Of The Soul" into their own work (from which this series entered my radar, triggered by Biblical learning). It includes a review of their album in the first few chapters, and then proceeds into the psychological concepts thereafter - I sort of reccomend skipping them first, coming back to them once you're finished with the rest.Learning - Concept Coverage:It's a great covering of the ideas, though perhaps only for a beginner to them. Explanation of the Persona was especially helpful. While the Ego was as well at the time, it's a more complex root that I only later began to understand more fully, especially how we create/how to go about interacting/etc. with it - an important inclusion with it's relation to the others. As for the Shadow, I was already well aware of, and if not mistaken, I didn't learn anything new about it here. Definitely a great description. In retrospect, there were some parts in the book that might could seem a bit rambling about the interworkings on parts of those ideas, without expanding on their reach. It flowed really well though, made it fun to read, and I got a lot of bits from them towards my own expansions.Reading:While it's a short read & I liked that, I could easily have happily read a ton more. Condention definitely has it's use & appeal, though it could have been far more dense/detailed for that purpose, and I'd say this works better as a starter to begin filling in the concepts more definitively. My own knowledge on them prior, was through only the "Academy Of Ideas" YouTube channel , which didn't click very thoroughly at first; this makes for a great follow-up/add-on to those videos.Recommendations:I would definitely recommend this to anyone. It's very fun flow (my personal favorite in fact) for enthusiasts, and again, only those not well versed on these concepts. As for Stans. BTS includes many many elements into their work as conduits of conveying the messages. This doesn't cover anywhere near the full scope of BTS's storylines & lessons, but it's definitely an incredibly important piece of their puzzle. Like is interated in this book, the prompt to learn psychology is very important in & of itself. So if you're not familiar with these concepts, you should definitely learn this angle of their universes (I'd claim it primarily gravitates around psychology).- Written by the reciever of book gifted by this account owner: Tara

Very little on BTS
I really wanted to enjoy this book as I have a B.S in psych and am working on my M.A and love BTS. I also wanted to try waiting to write a review until I finished the book but wasn’t able to. To begin, I really feel like the title was misleading. I felt most of this book turned into a psychology lesson rather than applying Jungian concepts to BTS’ album. His interpretations of the song’s meanings and how it relates to Jungian psychology is just that; interpretations. I feel it’s extremely hard to analyze BTS songs in the way he is, especially without BTS discussing the meaning. Yes, we know that the album was influenced by Jungian psychology, but I honestly felt like I was reading a high school essay. It felt like I was reading a “why was the sky blue?” analysis: lots of repetition, lots of jargon, and opinions. Based upon his descriptions I was able to draw my own ideas about the meanings of songs relating to Jungian concepts, but I feel he writes as if we are to take his word 100%. I also believe he should have put all of the psych term definitions and analyses before analyzing the songs. Then, people would have a better idea of what he was talking about. Even though I’ve learned of Jung and his psychology for the past five years, I felt I was still struggling to make sense of how certain ideas related to BTS and why they were included in the book at all. This book may be a good starting point to analyzing BTS’ albums, but I’d really encourage ARMY to also do their own research, read original writings from Jung and other psychologists, and study the lyrics that way.

I can't take any Jungian seriously who talks about BTS.
BTS = Backstreet Boys for Jungians.

Buenas condiciones

MUST READ for BTS ARMY! 💜
If you are a BTS ARMY, then I'll highly recommend this book. It is more focused on BTS and their Map of the Soul series albums! It goes through the tracks and explains the reason behind them from Jungian psychology perspective. Dr. Murray Stein is a renowned Jungian Scholar. I can tell you that after reading the book, you will feel even more proud of BTS. This book can be read as a standalone. But if you are interested in psychology, read Map of the Soul series books by Dr. Stein and read this as conclusion. 💜
