This helps. Wish it was a little longer on each side to fully stabilize but it works.

Purchased this item at WalMart for about $3.50. Keeps finger well aligned and well protected from bumps. Shorter one allows unincumbered bending of pip joint. The longer one is good for nighttime use as it does not move and feels comfortable for sleep. As expected, it is a little cumbersome when working around the house.

I had a particularly brutal finger break and this splint ended up being my favorite of the roughly 7 designs I tried. It covers it all the way around, so it really limits the risk of accidentally knocking the finger against something. It also provides comfortable padding that kept my finger completely restricted from moving without cutting off the circulation.

too big and it hurts when you try to push it down to make it fit your finger … don’t recommend
