Skater XL (Xbox One)

Ok so if you are expecting a game like Tony Hawks or Skate this may not be for you.It’s made buy much smaller company and made more as a simulation game.The controls take a bit of getting used to but as a skater I like that, reminds me of picking up a deck for the first time. You are probably not going to be busting crazy grinds and combos like in the THPS as this is more realistic.The way the analogue sticks work is the difference, one being your back foot and one the front means you can use these as you would when skating in real life to perform tricks. You can really create a style as you can bone your ollies and flip tricks or learn to catch them as clean as you like but you can’t just randomly flick them about because you’ll just slam!Graphics are ok but not what you’d get from the games pre mentioned due to the size of the company making it.So for me as a skater I love it hence the 5 stars but if you’re buying this for yourself or a child to just pick up and bust huge airs and ridiculous combos I wouldn’t go out and buy it unless you or they skate or like a more challenging type of game play.For me I’ll be buying THPS 1+2 for the kids and for me when I just want that arcade game feel and to hit combos not humanly possible in reality!!All the games have a place as they’re so different, hope this helps anyone not sure on making the purchase.

PLEASE READ BEFORE BUYINGThis was nothing like expected. I used to spend hours playing skate,just cruising around. This is about 1 million times harder,you steer using the triggers,you cant manoeuvre as easy as you did on skate. I predominantly got this for my 9 year old who can play skate with ease. There is no way he will even know what to do on this as I struggle. Gutted i bought this.

I've never played it but my boyfriend seemed to like it. He did say though that there's no point to the game you're just randomly skating round. There's no challenges or anything like that. He said its not something you could sit and play all night, maybe an hour tops and then you get abit bored. But i couldn't tell you coz i once spent 26hrs straight playing the sims so I'm not the best person to ask about quality gaming tbh. But ive given it 5stars because it was entertaining and there was nothing wrong with the seller it arrived fast and really well packaged.

If your passionate about skateboarding this may possibly be the best game you'll ever play

Takes some getting used to but once you put in a few hours it is pretty good!However theres still loads of lag and glitching it makes it un playable at points. Only comes with 5 maps made by the developers, 2 of which look like they were made in a couple of hours and have hardley any skate spots in them. Very much a street skating game as you can't properly skate bowls or do many vert tricks.Hopefully in time the developers add some more community maps and mods like the pc version

Great idea for a skating game on paper, however awful execution. The whole thing just feels like a rushed buggy mess from top to bottom, with graphics from that of a PS2 game. Overpriced and overhyped. 5 maps, most of which are extremely small yet somehow really empty and leave little room for creativity. Very limited character customization, even with access to community mods. Any community mods I install often lead to the game crashing or glitches out. From what I've heard the PC version is 100 times better entirely thanks to it actually being playable as well as a wider array of mods etc. To summarise, this feels more like a beta access than a full game and nowhere near worth the £30 price tag. Do not buy. (Unless you enjoy being robbed)

It’s a skate simulator, not story or tasks.While quite fun, it’s just a basic game and not worth the price tag. I can skate around freely on skate or THPS and have fun challenges to do, this is just awkwardly skatingThe game seems as if it’s in the testing stages. The graphics are average, the game play isn’t quite right and as you can see by the picture it’s seems the map it’s layered into some random photo.The game is something that belongs on the Xbox pass or priced at £5 and I personally would advise not to bother buying, especially at the current price

DO NOT BUY! worst skateboarding game I've ever played, really annoyed as you got youtubers saying its a great game people hyping it up. All I've had is problems skateboard does not move properly gets stuck alot have to reset all the time. Just wait for thps1+2 and skate4. Because this game is shocking how they can even charge this much is an insult the creators should be ashamed of themselves after making this!
