"I'm hers"
I’m gasping for breath, laughing and crying uncontrollably. I went into this book blind, and I’m glad I did. Two months after losing my own mother, I may not have gone for a book about a family road tripping across America to honor one of their mother’s last wishes. But this is far from a maudlin story; on the contrary, it’s an over the top humorous story about family dynamics while traveling in a smelly tuna can. It’s the story about a father doing his best to give his grown children a slice of the past, a drama queen brother celebrating his upcoming nuptials, and at its heart a young woman far from her family, and the childhood love who broke her heart. Grieving her mother, still trying years later to forget the love of her life, Marley embarks on a road trip of her mother’s making. Little does she know what awaits her. Porter. In all his grown up manly glory. The four of them journey up Route 66; reminiscing about their shared adventures, creating new memories, all while honoring the woman who loved them all. Did I mention they also torment each other as only family can? In epic, hilarious, and cringe worthy ways. I should have counted the bodily function jokes; they must have numbered in the thousands. Just when you think the author has gone too far, she reins it in and throws in something so wonderfully heartfelt and emotional that it gives you whiplash. Only in the best of ways, though. I loved this book; it’s one of those that will stay with me for a long to come.

Funny AND Educational!!
"He has some giant baby making balls, waiting to squirt on any lady eggs that float in his direction."THAT LINE. That line is at the 2% mark people and is what keeps me coming back to Meghan Quinn books. Good grief this lady and her crazy lines. They get me every single time. I'm ashamed I've had this book since October and have just now read it.The blurb says it all. Seven day road trip, one girl, three guys in an RV that has seen better days. It's a special road trip mind you, which is why none of them could say no to it even if they wanted to. Where to even start with this review? I do need to protect some of the story lines, while gushing about how much I loved the book and characters. So here goes nothing."I fell in love with my best friend's little sister-there's no denying it. I've loved her for years."Awwww!! And that is the crux of the storyline, the long lost love between Porter and Marley. They've been friends since they were kids, he's an honorary member of the family, yet she feels he walked out on her when she was at her most vulnerable. Marley has been doing fine on her own the last four years, however the road trip brings everything back front and center. There's no denying she still loves Porter when he's right beside her 24/7.The road trip and belly laughs ensue. I would have finished this book much quicker if I didn't stop and look up all of the historical sites Meghan Quinn mentions along Route 66. At first I thought she was making some of it up, but nope, it's all legit and pretty cool. Especially the Blue Whale, I might have to talk the fam into going to check that out someday.Along with Porter and Marley, we are also totally involved with Bernie the eyebrow wielding, president cursing dad and Paul, her metrosexual brother. The combination of these four is absolutely fantastic and I don't think I can ever look at those little pop caps you throw on the ground the same way again. The book is well written from dual points of view as we travel the states with this crazy family. While a little predictable, the journey to get to the end was totally worth it and we get a nice epilogue to wrap things up.

Cute and Funny
This is my first book by this author and I thought it was cute and pretty funny. Their road trip shenanigans were pretty great. Loved Marley's dad Bernie; he was the best. Marley was a great character and I enjoyed how hard she worked to get where she is and has made something of herself. Also, for the most part, she really held her own on a trip with three guys. Porter made me both happy and sad. He was sexy and his chemistry with Marley was off the charts and their back and forth was fire. However, the other side of his story was pretty sad. I hated that he thought he had nowhere to go and felt stuck. He didn't really have anyone to talk to either, which didn't help the situation. But, towards the end of the book when he finally opened up to Bernie and got some advice and inspiration from Mama McMann I cried. To me, it emphasized how guys need love and support just as much girls. Now, the reason I couldn't completely love this book was Paul. He was funny for a while, but then he got out of hand and I couldn't stand him. He went from funny to annoying. I mean does the guy have no concept of social situations and behavior? There didn't seem to be a real explanation to his behavior, other than being a drama queen, so to me that says he's just obnoxious. His behavior toward Marley at his wedding was appalling and I don't even care if he was supposed to be drunk. Everyone just seemed to accept his behavior with no real consequence which pissed me off even more. If Paul had a smaller role in the book I think I would've enjoyed it a lot more. I don't have a sibling so I don't know if that affects my opinion.Regardless, I did enjoy the road trip and the sentiment behind it. And I loved reading about Porter and Marley's relationship.

Completely ridiculous, yet it works.
To keep it simple, The Mother Road was 80% pure ridiculousness, 20% swoon. So if you can get past the fact that more than half the contents are bordering on absurd and unbelievable, you'll definitely fall in love with Porter. His adorableness and swoonworthy words will make this whole book worthwhile. And even when this one is walking the fine line of unbelievable, the whole thing is doused in so much humour you'll have a stomach ache. Just make sure you're in the right frame of mind for silly or this one could go the other way.

5 star read
I have not laughed so much as I have with this story. Marley is brilliant and is persuaded to go on a week long road trip with her dad, softie brother and surprisingly Smith. Her first love. The story follows them on the way and the escapades that occur. This is truly a brilliant funny and sexy read.

A joy from start to finish
I loved this book. Not really sure what I loved most - The laugh out load moments, The lump in my throat, or damp eye syndrome, the perfect cast of characters or the moments you can relate to your own family at some point in your growing up?So much is right with this book, that I can't recommend it highly enough!

This book is hilarious. From the prologue right to the last sentence, I have laughed, gasped and been swept up into the story. Meghan Quinn knows how to write funny! 😂 At the same time there is plenty of pathos and a beautiful resolution. Loved, loved, loved this book.

A genuine laugh out loud story!!! *****
This book had me bursting out laughing in the most inapropriate places, on the bus, waiting in the playground for the kids to come out, in thr doctors waiting room. I received many funny looks but it was so worth it! An amazing read, can't recommend it enough!
