PSWP Pump Barrier Bag

After having to buy three replacement pumps over the past 5 years, I discovered that these bags existed. During the fall, I would have small sticks and twigs fall into my koi pond and find their way to my pump. I use a 1200 GPH waterfall pump that is capable of handling 1/4" debris with no problem. But if you get a stick or other small debris sucked into it just right, it will seize up your impeller and burn your pump out.This bag has has already given me piece of mind and ease of care for my pond. I can just reach in and collect any leaves or other junk that has gathered around the outside of the bag without worrying about my pump. Even when the bag gets cluttered with muck and leaves, I have seen no reduction in performance of from my pump.If you have a pond, waterfall, or other water feature, get one of these barrier bags for your pump and save yourself a bunch of money and effort in maintaining your investment.

I'm very disappointed that the manufacturer or seller wasn't accurate about this barrier bag's size on their Amazon ad. Bag was described as being 6" x 9" and one buyer said the same thing. Another buyer said 15" x 15" - and the bag is 15 x 15. I bought this debris barrier bag to use on a 400 GPH pump in my small goldfish pond (6' x 8'). Pump is about 5" x 8" and I don't know whether the mesh openings on this large bag will just let the size debris through that can just plug it...as it did without a bag! I wanted this pump to help rotate water - remove 25% dirty and add fresh. Then use removed 'fertilized' water (carp, wildlife etc) on garden and flowers. It's more frustrating because the label on this bag says LARGE, MEDIUM and SMALL with accurate size measurements (and in English and Spanish). This bag is the LARGE one. Company is from Florida so just have an employee look at the label and put accurate size on Amazon ad. Now I'm stuck with trying it out or sending it back (and paying for it). I'm won't be eager to buy from this seller again.

The filter that came with my fountain pump broke off and I thought about ways to make an improvised filter using screen, came to amazon saw the pump barrier bag and thought for the price it’d be worth a try. It works great. Perfect size for most pumps. Cleans easily with a blast of water from a hose. Not so fine that it gets plugged up easily. I think one could get by with cleaning every 5 or 6 months.

I have mixed feelings about this bag. It isn't really bad per say, but it was completely useless for me. It definitely kept debris from getting sucked into my little giant pump, but my pump's suction was strong enough that the side of the bag simply got drawn to the pump inlets and then leaves and other debris got sucked against the bag and almost completely stopped water flow. Nothing like going out to your pond in the morning before work to discover that there is only a tiny trickle of water coming out of your filter outlet pipe.It seems like this bag would work better for a smaller pump that could float freely equidistant from the sides and bottom of this bag.I ended up getting a bigger bag and making a bio filter material nest to surround my pump (inside of the bag) so that water could not be blocked from being sucked in.

I was getting a lot of leaves from a crepe myrtle tree near my Koi pond. This was causing me to have to clean the pump quite regularly. Thanks to my barrier bag, I don't have to clean pump nearly as often. The leaves are caught on the barrier and all I have to do is lift it up and spray with the water hose. Quicker, cleaner and a lot less trouble. An excellent product.

Our daughter was elected to hop down into our waterfall at home & install the net around our waterfall pump. She was done in nothing flat & now our waterfall can run without worries of damage to the pump from ingesting debris. Thanks for a great product! We bought 2 just to have an extra on-hand ! Great price, too! Highly recommend this seller !

My pond pump and filter was always getting clogged with decomposing plants after 2 - 4 weeks. The usual routine was to pull the pump, clean the grate and then clean the filter. Now, 90% of the muck is on the outside of the bag, allowing the pump to operate longer between cleanings.

Keeps leaves and other debris from clogging the pump!
