GE UltraMax Electronic Fluorescent Ballast, T8 Multi-Volt Instant Start Ballast (1 Pack)

Easy to install and works great - 5 minute switch-out. I have 12 2-bulb T-8 fixtures and at 8 years old the ballasts were starting to take a powder. So I fixed the first one with this ballast and then smacked myself over the head and discovered LED bulbs! While this is a solid product to my mind it makes no sense to replace a ballast. Replacing the ballast and flourescent bulbs in a fixture is roughly equivalent with throwing the ballast and the old bulbs in the garbage and installing LEDs. So on the other 11 fixtures I installed LEDs bulbs. They use a fraction of the power, put out more light, last a whole longer, give you more color options, are plastic vs. glass and therefore safer and easier to handle, and are totally silent - it's a no-brainer to me.If you decide to go with LED bulbs look for bulbs powered at both ends (vs. single-end power) and pick the bulb temperature carefully. I chose 5000K bulbs and if I were doing it again I'd choose 3-4000K. The higher temp bulbs are intense, but a bit harsh I've found.

I used this ballast to drive a pair of F32T8/950 high-CRI lamps; trying to get the maximum power available. GE's data sheet lists this combination for this '3 or 2' ballast as delivering a 1.29 ballast factor, and .65 amperes. That is very close to what I measured in situ. So we are getting 80+ watts out of a pair of 32 watt bulbs... vs the pathetic 55 watts the fixture's original ballast delivered. It's the sad new 'normal' for this type of fixture, isn't it? But with this H-rated '3 or 2' ballast upgrade, you will see what those new 900 series bulbs are really capable of. They are like photon torpedos, Captain! Instant brightness with no striations... Be careful; it's like staring at the sun. You gotta wear shades!

These work great, all the ones I have purchased arrived new and good1) These are electronic ballast (all the new ones are), so they save energy and dont get as hot2) You can replaced old style units with these new electronic3) The electronic ones run regular or LED bulbs, just plug them in (both are wired the same - dont know why people have said different)4) Modern LED fluorescent replacement bulbs plug right in place of the older tubes > ballast must be electronic type, if you have old ballast must change it out > years ago LED fluorescent required special wiring, now they are plug incheers

Bought this because I was replacing my fluorescent lamps with the LED ones. One of the old ones didn't work, so I replaced the ballast with this one. Installed the new LED tubes, and it works properly now.

Excellent upgrade for old fluorescent fixtures. With change from T12's to T8's saving 31% on power. This seller aims to please. Even in this case where it was my fault that I mistakenly ordered more pieces than I needed, changed the order, and in the end didn't need all that were delivered, he stated that he would immediately refund the difference. The parts arrived sooner than scheduled. They were exactly what I needed. After retrofitting these older 4-ft fluorescent tube fixtures with these new ballasts, (and T8 tubes (replacing T12's) ), I'm getting more light for 31% less power. What more could you ask for? A good price? Yes, this was a very good price.

I ordered five of these. Worked beautifully with dual 4 ft LED T-8 tubes. The lights come on instantly, just like an incandescent would. No flickering, no delay. Great product. I have only one complaint, of the five units I purchased, one of them failed after about three weeks of use. The others continue to work well.

product was correct and simple enough to install. Down side is that they are made in China like everything else you sell. If you and I want someplace for our grand children to work you need to stem the flow of foreign products that you sell. It is easy enough to also sell light ballast manufactured in the great country that we live in..........
