Minor software glitch experienced | Good phone | Well refurbished
Overall, the phone was in good cosmetic condition (8/10 in my opinion). There were some scratches at the Micro USB port. However, that was expected as this is a manufacturer refurbished listing. I had used the phone for about a week without incident before an underlying issue surfaced. The phone turns off unexpectedly even though battery indications show a battery life of 20 to 30 %. The issue has occurred four times so far (almost a month of use). Upon restarting, it does not turn on; acting as if there was no charge on the device. Once connected to a charging outlet, however, the phone shows ample battery life and turns on smoothly. While this is not a major problem and my user experience has been great, I remain apprehensive that the phone may unexpectedly turn off in this fashion during a crucial situation.

disappointed and frustrated
I was hoping to be able to write a great review about how great the phone worked, but I cannot. It is advertised as unlocked, but when I arrived in Niger, West Africa 2 weeks ago, put in a sim card, it does not work because it asks for an 8 digit code to unlock the phone. I thought it was from the sim card here, but it works in every other phone I try. So, there is 250 bucks spent on nothing and I can't even send it back right now. Hence, I am frustrated.

This phone didn't read my sim card. Make sure you read all specifications before buying.

I really like this phone. The M9 is a couple of years old so won't be as good as the latest phones around (currently HTC M10, iPhone 7, Samsung Galaxy S7) in terms of camera and processor as technology has moved on. However, the build quality (metal case) is superb and it's a really nice looking phone; the metal case doesn't make it heavy at all. The sound quality is excellent and camera/video are very good. Speed has never been a problem either.

I've been a fan of HTC devices since the original Desire and was exited to upgrade to the M9 from my HTC One M7. There are plenty of tech reviews, written when the M9 was released, that will tell you it is up there with the best smartphones available today, so I'll focus on my experience 4 months on. BEST BITS It still looks and feels like a premium device. Quite a few of my iPhone-owning friends have been impressed with it's great looks and then confused by the lack of an Apple logo on the back. Software updates (I'm now running the very latest version of Android Lollipop), which are very regular for a non-Nexus device, have improved what was already great performance into something stunning. Every single app, from graphics intensive games to memory heavy Office apps run beautifully. Battery life is now superb (thanks to those updates). My battery level is rarely lower than 40% by the end of an average day, with use that includes full email/social syncing, web browsing, listening to music and map navigation with GPS. Sound is, in my opinion, the best of any smartphone, whether through it's external "BoomSound" speakers or through headphones. I was concerned when Beats Audio was dropped, but the quality is now even better, with richer mid-tones and crisper high-end; just don't choose the default HTC headphone settings, which are way too bass heavy. I love HTC features like Blinkfeed, but you can turn them off if you don't like them. THE REST The screen is good, especially at higher brightnesses, but feels dark when used under auto settings. Colours also seem less rich than other top-end devices. The One M9 sports a strong camera, but I'm disappointed that HTC dropped the Ultra Pixel tech from the main shooter. While the front-facing cam (for selfies) is fine, the main camera requires a bit of settings adjustment under varying light conditions, so is less than ideal for quick snaps. I've mentioned a lot of good stuff here, with quite a few improvements made since the M9 first came out, especially battery life, but it's still not a big step up from the previous M8. Compared with my old HTC One M7, it's a significant improvement, but it's an evolution not a revolution. If you've never tried the modern HTC One range then I can wholeheartedly recommend the M9. If you are an M7 owner, or more so if you have an M8, then it's certainly worth considering, but not a must have.

A good phone but does over heat. Also the screen is not as appealing as Samsung phone screens. I ended up selling it and getting a Galaxy Note 5

Avoid buying from Olabra, this phone was my first purchase from them and the phone stopped working just short of a year. It doesn't even boot up properly anymore, it won't let me get my details off the phone or anything. I experienced a massive slow down within 6 months of the purchase and the battery life took a massive dip. I recommend buying a Oneplus phone which is a little more expensive but it gets the job done perfectly, avoid this phone and avoid this buyer. Complete waste of money.
