PRO:1. Will last a very long time, the combo of the chalk line device and a bottle of chalk is awesome. Two birds one stone.2. Stanley Brand, and so far it's worked great, the color is clear and bold too.CON:1. It's kite string, so be very careful, this can get cut, snagged, ripped, etc.2. It's NOT a braided nylon cord type string, but then again I don't think the chalk would stick to nylon cord.3. Housing is plastic, so be fair warned, this dropped from 10' to cement, it's gonna crack or explode.4. No way to unscrew this and replace parts or the cord if needed, so be aware of that, the more expensive ones allow you to work on the guts.OTHER:1. BUY if you are a weekend WARRIOR and have a few projects to do, build once in a blue moon, etc. this is cheap and works great.2. DON"T buy of you're a daily construction worker, contractor or tradesman, this won't last, upgrade to a pro tool for sure.3. The little level they give ya is silly, so small and won't work with much if anything, and putting it on the string is messy and a hassle. I just tossed it in a drawer.

It is exactly as you need without a huge cost. You have to load the chalk yourself (as expected) the first time you use it. The port for loading the chalk works well, and the unit feels good in the hand. I recommend you respool (pull out) a length of the cord longer than you expect to use. Load in the chalk and shake gently as you rewind the cord. That way it is covered properly in the chalk for the actual use.

Product is good. Looks like it was a return and was not resealed, so when I opened the shipping package I had three items on floor. Shame on Amazon.

Great product... Wish the chalk line level was integrated. There really isn't a great way to store this other than altogether in a Ziploc bag so it doesn't get lost.

This is fine for my occasional DIY use. Not an item for the professional/daily user. Constructed of plastic - expected for the price. Crank is flappingly annoying when you unwind. It's feather weight makes it useless as a plumb bob - slightest breeze will make it dance. I got what I payed for ... If you will be using it with any frequency, keep shopping.

AWESOME PRODUCT. Even though this is the plastic version Composites and Plastics are just as strong is the metal and they don't trust either. This thing is a beast especially for its price and a 4oz bottle of chalk also included is a line level great deal a line level alone cost 299

This is a very good value for a sturdy chalk line. No problems with it. It works great!
