Don't hesitate.. No.. Really
I've waited a week before reviewing the phone to get an honest feel for it and trying a Xiaomi was honestly a great move. I've had Samsung, Sony, Huawei and Google phones in the past but as Huawei now lost Google support I was looking around for a phone that had everything I needed/wanted without paying for the name , this is it.For anyone nervous about trying out the MiUi don't be, it's very similar to using any other Android phone so you will be able to pick up and use straight away and as you get to know the phone you will pick up on a lot of small features that you never knew you needed.A 64mp main camera with wide angle, depth, macro for close ups and a 20mp selfie cam gives great pictures, the battery will last all day easily with normal everyday use and although the screen isn't AMOLED it's LCD the quality and size is such that it can be forgiven because come on.. Really... For what you pay for this phone the value for money is truly fantastic.. Looks great, feels premium, blazingly fast with large storage, great camera, good display and a big battery with fast charge... No regrets from me buying it and I will definitely be looking at other Xiaomi phones if I ever want to upgrade.

Unbelievable value for money! Read....
What a fantastic phone!I never though I would be picking up this phone and resting my iPhone 11 Pro for few weeks to see what is it like to live with Xiaomi 8 pro. I was pleasantly surprised by how snappy and smooth the operating system running UIMI 11. The phone has a substantial weight and feels solid in the hand. The curved edges makes it very easy to handle. Coming from an OLED screen I though this was going to be a dreadful screen but it’s exactly the opposite, good viewing angles and vibrant display that has enough peak luminance to function properly under sunlight. The battery has been amazing getting 9/10 screen on time and can go for two days with light usage. The bottom grill speaker is loud a cleat but it would have been nice to add another at the top for a stereo experience. The 64x camera is awesome delivering some consistant shot during day time. If you are serious about photography install Gcam as the pictures are considerably better with neutral tone and less noise.Highly recommended phone that I would buy again tomorrow if this one went down the drain.

Highly Recommended.
Very happy. Great Specs. Great Camera. This is value for money and competes well against iPhone. Android is better. iPhones are isolated. I looked at review after review on YouTube. In the end this was the winner. Dont go with the Note 9 Pro. Issues. And give the MIUI12 Updater a miss when it appears after a few days in your Settings Update. I tried it and didn't like it. I got Locked Out & returned it for refund & reordered another 8Pro. Happy & didnt take the update. The phone is fine as designed. Xiaomi churn out Updates for the big India market where the phones are big & they demand updates to feel ahead of the opposition. I wont take any update unless its really needed. I will have this phone for a good few years and then will buy the best Redmi then after taking in reviews. Not easy choosing. This phone only came out last year. Feel secure and buy from Amazon as returning is easy & use the excellent Chat Line. I prefer the Indian one. They make it simple & easy. The UK Chat Line are a bit grilling. India Chat Line appears mainly early afternoon & you will tell by their Indian names. Excellent service.

Could be brilliant but.....
I bought this phone as my contracted phone - a Huawei Mate 20 Pro has had continued problems with its USB-C port and Huawei have been absolutely terrible, awful and useless in fixing the issue on my 9 month old phone.I liked the fact that it has a separate 3.5mm audio jack, supposed great battery life and was top of the pack in terms of grunt in the £200 ish phones. The good bits are that generally, it is about as fluid and pleasant to use at first as the Mate 20 Pro when that was working well. The LCD screen isn't quite as good, but that really isn't an issue and it rarely struggles for computing power. The camera is also pretty decent. In terms of issues, I do have a few. First - Xiaomi have adverts in everything! It gets annoying and you can lose the actual button you are looking for.Secondly - it has an annoying habit of randomly rebooting, sometimes a couple of times a day. I may have to return it if it persists or gets worse.Thirdly, I have experienced a day where the phone did struggle to do everything I asked of it. I am demanding, and it overheated but long before that it was struggling to connect to Android Auto. Doing an 'optimize' didn't really help and I suppose that despite it having 6gb of ram and a decent chip, it is still a £200 phone and was being pushed beyond what it was comfortable with.If it didn't reboot randomly I would really recommend it. As it is, the issue, which I understand is quite common, needs to be addressed and fixed before I can do that.

Brilliant phone
I read lots of reviews for this phone and it didn't disappoint. It definitely is a phone I would get again. I love all the features it comes with, the quality of the picturesa d video are great when you have good lighting. Sometimes the pics aren't the best but you have to get the right angle and light. I love that it has screen recorder, time lapse, portraight mode on camera and 4k recording. Lots of features that I don't feel like I need to get an iPhone for! It's a great phone in the price bracket.EDIT 2022: I still have this phone and it's still great, only let down is when on loudspeaker it makes a clicking noise which is annoying. I noticed this soon after I got the phone but doesn't bother me as I'm not in the phone talking very much.

Excellent budget device
2 months in I'm still very happy with this phone. The camera is excellent, so good that my brother in-law asked me to use it for his child's birthday party instead of his iPhone 11 max. The battery is decent and charges super quick. So far only down side is that the phone doesn't come with a screen protector so make sure to pick one up as well.
