most beautiful voice
Great singer and he often sounds a lot like Elvis, and lots of other melody singers. My wife and I both enjoy the sound of Jerry Wallace.

Budget Collection Of Remakes
When an artist records for several labels during the course of a career(in this case Challenge, Mercury, Liberty, Decca, United Artists, and MCA), it is usually impossible to find a complete collection of all hit songs. As a result, the artist goes back and re-records material to keep the catalog available to the public. This ten song King CD release, "Jerry Wallace Greatest(King) Hits", features decent remakes of his signature songs previously unavailable together in the compact disc format. Jerry is in fine voice and the production is appropriate. His early pop hits from 1958-1965 are represented by "How The Time Flies", "Primrose Lane", "There She Goes', "Shutters And Boards", "In the Misty Moonlight", and "Life's Gone and Slipped Away".The revisited country hits from 1972 and 1973 are "To Get To You", "If You Leave Me Tonight I'll Cry", "Do You Know What It's Like To Be Lonesome", and "Don't Give Up On Me".If you have to have the originals, this won't be your cup of tea.If you enjoy hearing decent recreations by the artist after he's lived with the material for awhile, you might want to give this set a try.

It's still Jerry Wallace
I read the other reviews; I didn't buy the CD because of four songs I know on the CD (Primrose Lane, In the Misty Moonlight, If You Leave me Tonight, and Shutters and Boards), I have them ALL on the well-protected original vinyl 45s. Jerry deserved greater success and if he didn't reach the highest plateau, it wasn't due to any fault of his own. "If You Leave Me Tonight...." was featured to great effect on an episode of Rod Serling's second TV show, Night Gallery, about a "haunted" jukebox that would play only that song. People were inquiring of country DJs and the entertainment editor of morning papers, "Who IS that? He's great!" after the show aired. Taking the word of the other reviewers, I will however give only 4 stars, but that ain't bad. And for the price, you can't lose.

Re-recordings that are not great
None of these are like the original recordings. Sound isn't that great either.

Jerry Wallace Greatest Hits [King]
This is a very good album.True, his voice seems to waver at times but isn't that what a producer is for? There should have been a few retakes on a couple of songs.Bear in mind he was in his 60's when the CD was recorded."Life's Gone and Slippped Away" is one of the best songs he ever recorded. So true to life.Jerry is one of the greatest singers that ever lived though he simply didn't get the breaks that some did.Jerry, issue some more of your songs.God bless you Jerry Wallace wherever you are.

Quality of recording
The Jerry Wallace CD entitled Greatest King Hits was good because some of the recordings have been out of circulation for a long time.True enough his voice has changed over the years but a lot of the inferior sound came from poor recording and over dubbing by mixing previous recordings with his 1996 voice.Overall I was glad to be able to buy the recording.Jerry is a prime example of an absolute great singer that didn't get the credit he deserves.Had he got his hands on a song like "Somebody Done Somebody Wrong Song" and a couple more like that he would be in immortal history.Great man.Great entertainer.
