An average read
I have read many of Lennox's books and watched his debates - he is otherwise a brilliant, articulate and witty Apologist. Much of what he offers is excellent and helpful. This book feels a little haphazard and lacking in direction. Maybe the topic is too large to adequately cover in a small book, but lacking are the normal (short and precises) arguments for God. This book does spend time evidencing the truth and historicity of Jesus' resurrection. A section on sanctification is also offered which is helpful.I did note some decidedly Un-Orthodox teachings that surprised me (though I know Lennox believes the earth to be millions or maybe billions of years old).Pages 91-92 suggest that the earth was a mess except for the Garden of Eden, and that God had preemptively given Adam & Eve special adaptations to survive living and working in the rest of the dangerous world: blood clotting, disease resistance etc... But this makes no sense if at the onset everything created was perfect and no death, violence or disease existed. Prior to their sin, no such dangers or travails existed on this new and young earth. On page 95 this otherwise brilliantly man tries to scare us by promoting Al Gore's lies about humans destroying the ozone layer and changing world climate. On page 96, after describing the end of this world and God's creation of a new heaven and a new earth, Lennox (or Gooding?) makes a theologically strange statement "And who knows how many further projects the God of all ingenuity and creative power will embark on thereafter?" The Bible (God's own words) make no such speculation, but non-Christians do so regularly.Follows another strange line of thought where God must restore mankind to its original condition so as to be able to properly "take over and run the administration of new heavens and earth..." Not sure what these authors daydream about concerning our eternity with God, but these musings are not found in the selected verse they offer as support on page 96.With yet another aberrant twist of doctrine it is suggested on pg. 101 that "...position and responsibility in His kingdom [Christ] will depend in part on a disciple's suffering here on earth" and attempts to use Mark 10:40 as support. This verse has Jesus rebuking two of His disciples for their pride and wont of special status in the Kingdom. The Kingdom is not one based upon works of pride, but granted by the will of the Father.

Great and relevant topic, credible author.
Lennox is obviously a reputable mathematician, who can give credible reasons for his position. I suggest this reading to any thinking person...

This is an excellent book written by credible authors reconciling Christianity with modern science as well as a comparative analysis with other major world religions. The authors skillfully deal with popular human arguments against an omnipotent, omniscient creator and His significant involvement in the everyday lives of of mankind. A short read yet highly substantive.

too true mate
This book is as clear as day, it is a rational, well argued book with good illustrations and examples. When I, as a young stripling, heard him lecture it was to me a revelation. I hadn't come across Christian apologetics, and I hadn't heard such informed opinion before. It formed my outlook for years. It is much better than than the anecdotal, your heart -will- tell- you, you too can be a super Christian, name dropping, when I was at....., who cares about the other side of the argument stuff you can read.

Excellent Book
This book is in the field of apologetics - arguing for the faith - and is excellent material by two very learned men, both professors in their own field. John Lennox has written several books in apologetics and has contended with unbelievers in public debate - see utube. This book is well worth reading by believer and unbeliever alike. It is very far from obscurantism.
