Excellent machine, versatile and reliable
I bought this machine to clean up 20 odd square metres second hand parquet flooring prior to relaying it to match my existing floor. This sander was invaluable I cleaned up the thick end of 10,000 individual fingers of teak hardwood, removing the last of old bitumen adhesive and ensuring each finger was straight and square. The machine had a very hard life over many weeks. Once complete I gave it a good clean and it now lives in my shed and although it sees less use, it still proves very useful on lots of projects. It can be used for fast removal of material, squaring things up and even detailed shaping of curves, it is very versatile. The machine has proven completely reliable over a couple of years and a lot of use and has saved me hours of work over hand held sanders. I have found it quiet, smooth and easy to use and faultless. Great value.

Good, in fact very good, but ultimately slightly underpowered.
An excellent grinder that has stood up to a lot of abuse in the time since I bought it, several years now. It has been used for wood, but it's primary purpose is to grind hardened carbon steel ( before tempering to a slightly softer state ) It does the job, especially with low grit belts and no complaints about the outcome. The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is because I am aware that the motor is a little under powered. I do some of my work in another workshop where the same machines have been adapted with larger more powerful motors and the difference in time required to grind to the level required is noticeably less. I'm not knocking the machine, but if the manufacturer offered a more expensive verison with a more powerful motor, I would definitely spend the extra money to buy one. This one is good, but a more powerful one would be a better buy.

Works well. Requires adhesive discs, not velcro.
Bought to sand thin uPVC trim to a point, cutting was impossible. Nice solid, compact machine, easy to assemble. Worked well, not too noisy. Bought replacement discs at the same time - they are incompatible as they are hook and loop (velcro) - this machine uses adhesive discs. Bolts to secure it to a bench are not provided, luckily I had some. On/Off switch good, easy to access. Sander easy to clean, used without vac extractor. Apparently this machine design has been around many years, by many brands - the fundamentals are identical. Ryobi version is the same, but £324 more expensive!. VonHous best value and I like their products. Very pleased.

Great value for money
no complaints. Sturdy, decent power, capable of heavy sanding and after adjustments, sanding for fine modelling work. Given the price, very impressed

Review after 3 years of use.
I have used this for three years, maybe a few times a month. It has worked fine. The sanding belt is easy to adjust. To change the belt (eg from 80 grit to 240 grit) you loosen a hex bolt to tip the belt carrier upright, and remove two screws to take off a dust shield. Then pull a lever to slacken the sanding belt, remove and replace and put everything back. Couple of minutes job. I don't bother retightening the hex bolt as gravity holds the belt carrier down, and have not had an issue with this in 3 years. For 3 years I have put up with the horrible noise this machine made -- a scraping, banging sounds from inside the casing. I assumed a badly aligned part and this was the price to pay for a cheap sander. But today the noise got much worse, so I was forced to take the machine apart. One of the pulleys for the drive belt had come loose, and the belt and pulley were rubbing on the casing -- causing the noise. But on further looking, I could see that the pulley had been put on the wrong way round (at the factory I guess). This caused the belt and pulley to stick out more, and this had given me 3 years of annoying noise. Put the pulley back correctly, and now the machine is quiet. It seems very solidly built. After 3 years the drive belt is not worn, and the sander still works perfectly. I would have given it 5 stars, but deducted one for poor factory quality inspection. If it breaks down, I would buy another of the same make.

Sander great just what I needed.
THE SANDER came was very well packed it would be very difficult to damage. The sander itself is well built and powerful enough for all but heavy duty commercial jobs. For most DIY you would be hard pressed to get better especially at the price. It after all is a DIY product not commercial. Great machine very happy.
