This was supplied in a shallow, leather effect jewellery gift box. For some reason, the necklace was in a little plastic bag, instead of presented on the necklace holder cushion inside the box - and the chain was nicely tangled into a knot. It took a frustrating few minutes to unpick this. Inside the box, the cream short-pile velvet effect cushion is labelled ‘sterling silver’.The necklace is pretty and delicate. Really very delicate. The chain is a series of simple, and very fine loops. The yellow gold plating is quite nice - a coolish yellow rather than orangey. The horn pendant has a neat, crisp shape - but isn’t a solid piece. The back is concave, and in contrast to the smooth appearance of the metal at the front, the inside has a slightly textured surface. The chain is marked 925 on both catch and a little tag. The horn pendant does not appear to be marked as silver.

This necklace looks quality made, it is very shiny and looks modern, sophisticated and dainty. The necklace came in a nice little box well protected. The necklace chain is tiny but looks solid, and has a 925 stamp for sterling silver with gold plating. Gold plating increases shine, lustre and premium look of jewellery especially if you like gold jewellery. Also, gold allergy is much less common than allergies from other materials such as nickel, cobalt, etc. However, gold plating wears off over time and will need to be re-plated (after 12-18 months of wearing) and it can easily tarnish as well which is its biggest downside. To increase its longevity definitely avoid putting water, dirt, creams, perfumes onto the gold-plated jewellery. Overall, the quality of the necklace is nice and the price is right for the types of materials used.
