Wow! I absolutely love this music! Brings back the music that I loved when I was a child! My mom played this music all the time!

Like that type music.

This has to be the finest collection of early rock n roll songs ever assembled. It is excellent. Also, the Wolfman Jack snippets gives the listener a real flavor of the era in which these songs were made. I like the film too.

Before ordering, I blew up the picture to compare the UPC code of this to my 15year old version. It is the same. These new discs are the exact same songs in a new packaging. It’s in a single disc looking jewel case. Fold it open once to access CD1, then again (from the inside) to access CD2. I like that. The discs are snug in their case and unlikely to be knocked loose. The older version has a 1 inch thick case that doesn’t hold the discs very well. My only wish about this album is: “Why don’t they add Flash Cadillac’s version of ‘Louie, Louie’ and ‘Gee’ by The Crows?” Those are the only two songs from the movie that have never been on the soundtrack album? Not to mention the (alternate ending) version of ‘Love Potion Number 9’ by The Clovers. That’s in the movie. The regular ending version is still what’s on the album. “American Graffiti” is my favorite movie of all time. I’ve probably watched it over a thousand times. No joke. If you like this music and Wolfman Jack, (his voice is on some of the songs from either an intro or a phone call) you’ll LOVE this album.

This CD has twice as many (41 songs) titles as my digital downloaded soundtrack. I'm old enough to have seen the original movie and these songs are all just lovely.

Wow---am I ever enjoying this 2 cd set. I had my 14 year old granddaughter slack jawed and laughing as I demonstrated the dances we did: The "Bee-Bop", the Jive, the Swim, The Mashed-Potato, the Twist, the Jerk and of course the funniest of all, the Stroll! LOL! Did I leave any out? She wanted to know with utter disbelief if the stroll was actually A DANCE. I used to laugh hilariously when my parents would demonstrate the Charleston for me as a teen ager. Now I guess it's my turn to be laughed at. Great nostalgia and great music though.

In fine anni 50 e primissimi 60, grazie ad una fonovaligia Philips ed a un piccolo lotto di 45 giri comprati da mio padre e mia madre, mi arrivò nelle orecchie (e nel cuore) il Rock ‘n’ Roll, il Doo-Wop, gli slow a 12/8, tempo che da noi era battezzato con grande fantasia ‘pesta lardo’.Ed ecco i Platters, Paul Anka, Pat Boone, ma anche il Kingston Trio che prepararono la mia strada, qualche anno dopo, alle armonie vocali dei Beatles e, appena più avanti, di Crosby Stills Nash & (sometimes) Young.Questa prima musica americana, assieme ai fumetti di Alex Raymond e poi Sergio Bonelli, fu una folgorazione,Andai ovviamente a vedere American Graffiti, di Lucas, quando uscì, ma quel film non mi apparteneva, perché ero figlio di altri anni e di altre pellicole (Apocalypse Now, il Nido del Cuculo, Un Uomo Chiamato Cavallo ecc ecc). La musica, invece la riconoscevo, la sentivo mia.Da qui l’acquisto, oggi, di questa storica soundtrack. La compro? Non la compro? Mi stuferà dopo un paio di ascolti? I pezzi li so già a memoria… che senso ha?Bene, l’ho comprata.Stare a parlare di ogni brano non avrebbe senso; ci vorrebbe un’enciclopedia solo per Buddy Holly o per i Platters o Chuck Berry. Lascio quindi perdere, ma due considerazioni sono necessarie:1- Il suono: come suona oggi su un buon impianto Hi-Fi? Nonostante questa sia l’edizione originale MCA, il suono è quello che è, nel senso che manca di trasparenza e dettaglio. Tutto sembra ammassato. Ovviamente non deve essere preso per comparazioni audiofile, non avrebbe senso, ma per respirare l’aria di quegli anni di ‘spensieratezza’ post bellica. L’ideale sarebbe sentirlo, con lo stesso spirito dei dischetti a 45 giri nei fonovaligia, e lasciarsi trasportare.2 - Attualità: non conosco questa musica che per averla incontrata casualmente in qualche film. Vale la pena comprare la Soundtrack di American Graffiti?Sì, assolutamente, perché queste tracce, oltre ad essere la casa madre del rock, sono anche pregevoli per composizione (linee melodiche, cantati, arrangiamenti). Se proprio volete modernizzare un pochino qualche pezzo, vi manderei su John Lennon Rock ‘n’ Roll, ma anche sul Great Pretender di Freddie Mercury o sull’Unchained Melody dei Righteous Brothers, o sui primissimi Beach Boys, giusto per partire.Bene, non mi resta che salutarvi, dicendovi: welcome to the 50s!

Ce fut une de mes premières K7 que j'avais achetée tout minot après avoir vu le film au cinoche. Je l'ai écoutée et écoutée au point de la connaitre par coeur et puis la cassette à disparu avec le temps et je ne l'avais jamais rachetée depuis, ni en vinyl , ni en Cd...Voilà ! c'est chose faîte aujourd'hui, après beaucoup d'hésitations de peur de gâcher le beau souvenir que j'en gardais. Et en fait, non, ce n'est que du bonheur ! Au programme, toute la musique US des années 50, du rhythm & blues, du rock & roll, du doo woop, du surf et, il faut bien le dire, quelques dauberies bien niaises comme seule l'Amérique des années 50 savait en produire. On retrouve beaucoup de tubes, dont certains seront repris par des vedettes nationales et internationales : "Barbara Ann" des Beach Boys par Martin Circus, "Ya Ya" de Le Dorsey par les Beatles, "Johnny be Goode" de Chuck berry par les Chaussettes Noires, "Do you wanna Dance" de Bobby Freeman par les Ramones, "Cying in the Chapel" des Orioles par Elvis Presley, "Runaway" de Del Shannon par Dave, "book of love " des Monotones par Claude François ou "At the Hop" des Flash Cadillac & the Continental Kids par Sha Na Na....Et en tout cas beaucoup d'émotions ....
