Musical purity, less vibration. Made in brass for a clear stable sound with reduced resonance Hear every note with more clarity and less unwanted vibration. Our MDR-EX650AP headphones use brass housings to minimise distortion and wide brass ducts for high sound stability. And with a new angled earbud design that fits securely in the ear, you’ll hardly notice you’re wearing them.

Very nice earbuds
Fit like a glove with the standard rubber nubs installed, but several others included in ziplock pouch. Nice carry case also included. Very nice brushed gray-tone brass housing is subdued and has some substantial heft without being heavy. Sound is significantly better than what I was expecting from a $75 set of earbuds. Great separation and spatial definition - offers a feeling of airiness that allows distinct vocal and instrumental isolation and a "breathy" soundstage (check out "Cleaning Windows" by Van Morrison and listen to Mark Knopfler's guitar work for a great example of what I am describing). Easy to pick up instruments that you may not have noticed before - extra guitar, piano, etc., but some bass can sound a little muddy depending on the original song quality. The highs are refined and not at all harsh and mid-range is warm, but where bass is better captured, you'll pick up some of the growl or punchiness that is there as well (the bass on "Starship Trooper" by Yes and the bass line on Nancy Sinatra's "These Boots Are Made For Walking" and "Legendary Hearts" by Lou Reed really show off the capabilities of these earbuds quite well). Finally, the external mic control works as advertised - one click to pause, two to advance one song, three and you go back one song. Since I've had these for just a few hours I can't comment on the phone quality, just jamming on the iPhone 6s. I expect the sound to open up even further as I use them - they sound great out-of-the-box so I'm pleased to have spent only $75 instead of the several hundred I saw for many of the upper-end products like Shure and Bose which I also considered. Highly recommended!

Too expensive
Great earphones, too expensive. After I bought these, I found them for 75 dollars cheaper

But in my opinion they don't sound better than iPhone earpods which priced for $30
I had to return the headset because of constant hissing background noise they make when connected to my HTC One M8 Cyanogenmode12 (5.1.1). The noise issue didn't occur with my friend's iPhone 6 plus though, so it might be the hardware or AOS specific issue. I did long search for replacement of my Bose MIE2 headphones which got broken after 3 years of use. I ordered them because of many positive reviews on the internet magazines and Sony website. But in my opinion they don't sound better than iPhone earpods which priced for $30. In the end I had to purchase used Bose MIE2 on ebay, those are the best headphones to me I've ever had.

You can hear instruments and voices like they're both far to your top right or whispering ...
The sound quality is unlike any other in-ear headphones, particularly in this price range. You can hear instruments and voices like they're both far to your top right or whispering into your left. It's superb. However, the brass is uncomfortably loud in this. You get a feeling of wanting to turn up the music to hear every instrument louder, but this clattering right into your ears means you can't. The bass is also weak, non-existent sometimes, especially compared to expensive Boss in-ears.I would recommend these headphones if you're into alternative or laid back music such as Radiohead of The XX. Not the best for Hip Hop or dance music I would say.Music stopped playing in the left ear of them after seven weeks unfortunately, so the build quality must not be great.4.5/5 for sound quality. 3.5/5 overall.

Very Impressive, An Excellent Deal
I generally avoid spending more than $50 on earbuds, since my near-constant use of them tends to mean I buy a new pair every 10 months or so, but I took a gamble on these and it seems to have paid off very nicely. the audio quality alone surpasses that of most $100+ over-ear headphones I've owned -- these earbuds pump out an unbelievably strong sound when plugged straight into my HTC cellphone, even at low volume and without any hardware amplification. their balance is very even (if maybe a little forward-leaning) with no muddy bass or peaking treble at higher volumes. the construction is just as good as the sound. the tips (4 different sizes included) are a hybrid of silicone and natural rubber, which makes them both comfortable and easy to clean. the casings are made of a brushed stainless alloy that the info packet claims to be brass, which I'm inclined to believe given their considerable heft and durability. the cord is interesting; at first it appears to be braided, but on closer examination it is merely molded with a "threaded" texture, giving it an appearance similar to a twisted cable. I am not sure what the intended purpose behind this design choice was, but I suspect it may have something to do with the relative infrequency with which the cord suffers the inevitable knots and tangles.overall, the Sony MDR-EX650AP is a beautiful piece of hardware that feels just as high-quality as it looks. a worthwhile purchase for anyone looking to be genuinely impressed by their earbuds.

Fantastic! Everyone listens differently
Fantastic! Everyone listens differently. I enjoy hearing the subtly in the music, all the instruments, clarity, balance. I'll give you an idea of what I listen to: Ray Lamontagne, Beth Orton, Phish, Kate Bush, Alabama Shakes, First Aid Kit. I don't listen to heavy rock or rap so the listening experience may be different for other types of music. Another variable people don't talk about in these reviews: If I am unhappy with the sound I go in to device and change equalizer to make the quality of sound compatible with the type of recording I am listening to. Summary: The headphones sound great! Love them! Comfort is good, after about an hour they feel a little uncomfortable ( I may put on a smaller rubber earbud & try that). Highly recommend the earbuds.
