Again I purchased this product for my 4 year old grandaughter whom Is being home schooled she's learned so much and is beyond other children of her age! These workbooks makes it wonderful to teach a child abc's shapes, vowels , she's only 4 years old she writes her full name recognizes when to use a capitol letter. These workbook were made by a teacher it makes it fun to learn with their magical different pens which makes it interesting! My grandaughter loves doing what she calls Homework! These workbooks are worth every cent and I would truly recommend this to anyone who wants to home svhool their child!

It is a great product but I am a little disappointed because I thought this was self teaching and it still requires me to do one on one with my 4 year old as the one only says right or wrong answer and my 4 year just plays the guessing game with the book. I wish they pen could read the questions for the child this would make it easier on a busy parent.

My 2 year old and 4 year old daughters really like the Hot Dots series. Every few days I will hear the Ace dog pen at work/play of their own accord. I had purchased this right before Christmas along with the reading one at my local Target, and within a couple weeks one of the dogs stopped working. I contacted customer service, and was impressed by their prompt reply and replacement. 5 stars all around! I will continue to support this product as my girls grow and require the more advanced books.

Hot Dots are great for independent practice or individual play time. The immediate feedback in a fun way is great for learning.

Bought this for a two year old who loves this! Some pages are still too old for them, but others (i.e. which is the largest/tallest, which shape is a triangle, counting to 5) work well for this age, and they LOVE the dog pen. So don't rule this out for younger ages just because they won't be able to do everything in the book.

This is cute and I love that, compared to say LeapStart, I didn't have to download any audio/data - it was ready to go right out of the box (with some batteries, of course!). I was going to purchase a LeapFrog LeapStart, but the numerous frustrations I read about with downloading the audio/data pushed me away from what I thought would be a cool product. This seemed much easier to use. There will definitely be a learning curve with how it works, but I think it is a nice idea. Additionally, there are some questions written above, so these would need to be read to the youngster by a fluent reader so that the learning activity made sense. It's not like LeapStart, which I believe just speaks to you, so there may need to be some adult supervision/guidance.
