Weston 65-3001-RE Realtree Edge Vacuum Sealer with Roll Storage and Bag Cutter, Black (65-3001-R)

I like the size, and it stops there. It does not come with the hose for vacuuming jars. I have several and they all fit. But after a couple days of trying and none of my jars had a seal, I checked the hose to my skin. NO VACCUM. It is a very difficult machine to latch, and again not sure if bad unit. Only one side would click. The bags did just fine. So, there are good and bad reviews. I ordered to see if it would work. It did not so sent back. Ordering a different brand and paying the higher cost.

My Vacmaster Pro260 wasn't working up to par because it had sealed a whole bunch of stuff over the years. I want and need a really good unit and Weston always made a good product. The vacuum process is quicker and quieter then my old vacuum sealer. My only concern is that you have to hold down both sides and push in the clips in to hold the top down. Just takes a little getting used to.

Something that works!

The side snaps to hold the bag in place to seal or vacuum/seal are not intuitive and difficult to engage. A more intuitive throw lever to engage the sealing or vacuum/sealing Initiation process would be a better design.

I live in a very rural setting where a drive to the only closest over priced grocery store in the nearest town is an hour round trip. To buy groceries at a reasonable price is a three hour round trip to the city. For this reason, we make the trip to the city once a month and freeze most of our food in a chest freezer. A vacuum sealer is especially handy when you buy food in bulk and want to separate it out into individual meals.I owned a rather old featureless "Seal-a-Meal" vacuum sealer that basically did a rather poor job of sealing the bags. I think it was the first model released. It finally gave out some time back so I ordered this Weston 65-3001-RE Realtree Edge Vacuum Sealer with Roll Storage and Bag Cutter, Black (65-3001-R). Wow, what a huge improvement in the concept! This Westinghouse vacuum sealer is feature packed and does an excellent job at sealing meals.It comes with a full roll of vacuum seal bags inside the unit as well as six smaller and four extra large bags in a separate plastic bag inside the box - plenty to get started without having to order vacuum seal bags.Several features (new to me), besides vacuum and sealing are:• You can choose if you want a high or low vacuum level. Low for softer foods and high for more sturdy foods like steaks and such.• There is a "Pulse" feature for vacuuming the air out of sealer bags with fragile or non-food items. You hold down the "Pulse" button until the right amount of vacuum is achieved then you release the button. After, you press the "Seal" button to seal the bag.• There is a "Seal Time" setting that selects "Normal" or "Extended" seal times. The extended seal time is for moist foods to ensure the bag seals properly. Normal time is for non-moist foods.• You have two buttons that give a choice to seal the bag without vacuum and to vacuum seal the bag.• There is an accessory plug and button, which activates the plug. This feature is used with a vacuum hose, special canisters, and zipper bags (none of these mentioned are included and must be purchased separately).I would normally do a PRO and CON list but frankly, I can't think of any cons. This Weston vacuum sealer has sure come a long way from my old sealer. I'm kind of glad to old sealer gave out. I've got this new one that is so much easier and more versatile to use. I will be getting a lot of use out of it.I'm very pleased with this Weston vacuum sealer and highly recommend it.
