The 7 Deadly Sins

Like the magnificent seven with bad writing and plot holes
The 7 Deadly Sins by Tze Chun is a western graphic novel set in 1857. It is about a group of six convicts that have one sin from the seven deadly sins and their financier that release them from death row. This graphic novel is about redemption. It is multiracial cast with diverse backgrounds. The story was just okay, but some character motivations just did not make sense. I will say that I did love the colors used and every wide panel, but the close up or medium panels were sometimes confusing, having me flip back to tell just what action happened. The book is very bloody and gory. This book had the worst drawings of noses that were so bad they were almost distracting. I loved only two characters stories and background far more than any others one was the burned pregnant slave girl and the other was the priest assistant and financier of the mission to return his daughter to the murderous chief. The Seven Deadly Sins collects issues 1 - 6 for TKO comics. The Plot: A chief is on a rampage killing families in 1857 Texas. The Texas Rangers want to stop him but he can avoid capture, but a reverend's assistant hold the key in his daughter, that was stolen on a raid 9 years ago. He uses the reverend's number one enemy when he releases him with 5 other death row inmates. He offers them money, fresh start, and some redemption in doing a good deed. They are hunted by the priest who wants the money that his assistant stole, which he was stealing from the church. What I Liked: the color art was the best thing it was really beautiful and captured the desert landscape. The storyline involving the pregnant and burnt slave was the best, she should have been lead because she was by far the most interesting character with a heart breaking background. I like the reverends assistant storyline and the relationship with his daughter. The scene with the underground pond escape was really great. The scalping of the priest was brutal and creepy that he survived it.What I Disliked: The character of the reverend and Daper's motivations made no sense, and really hurt the story. It was a little hard to place the character to the seven deadly sins, I still have question marks over a few of them. The art of people and especially there noses, so distracting.Recommendation: The 7 Deadly Sins was interesting in some parts, but not enough for me to recommend. The purchase price was cheap at 1.99 and was worth that price on kindle. I rated The 7 Deadly Sins 2 out of 5 stars. I might try one more TKO comic in Sara by Garth Ennis.

Good dark book
This was a pretty good book. People trying to right wrongs and get over the sins they have committed to others. Deals with voilence and racism. Gritty book but it does have heart and a point. Art is cool but the action is hard to follow at times. It is worth reading though

The most obvious sin was gluttony
And he came through at the end. The story and the art were rather chaotic at times and it was difficult to sort out the goal guys and the bad guys. Perhaps that was intentional. But I enjoyed it mainly because it was different ...

Seven is a common storyline
Being a fan of this storyline starting with Seven Samurai's, through the Magnificent Seven I was excited to find this take in graphic novel form. The art is appealing enough to spend time examining as you read the story.

Great western comic
This is a great comic book and considering it's a Western it's refreshing to see any good comics in this genre. Artyom Trakhanov's art is terrific and reminds me a lot of RM Guerra from Scalped. The artist really fits this genre. This book is a but bleak but great and I feel it jas but of Cormac McCarthy and Sam Peckinpah baked into it. I also loved the oversized format as it allows you to really enjoy the art and the coloring from Brusco. The characters like Jericho Marsh are great and the other Sins are cool too. I highly recommend this book and all the books from TKO Studios

The 7 Deadly Sins / Z-View
Seven death row prisoners are recruited to accompany a Priest on a suicide mission into Indian territory to recover a child stolen from settlers. Each of those on the mission have reasons to go above and beyond avoiding the gallows.Tze Chun has created a story much more aligned to The Wild Bunch and The Searchers than most western comic book stories. His characters all have individual personalities, depth and backstory. Chun developed excellent twists that, although you won’t see coming, feel true. Chun is a writer to watch!Artyom Trakhanov’s art is beautiful. I’ve followed his work in other stories but The 7 Deadly Sins is his masterpiece (at least so far). Trakhanhov has the rare ability (think Eduardo Risso and Palle Schimdt) to make all of his characters, including those in the backgrounds, have their own unique feel and personality. Trakhanov’s style is his own, but reminds me of a young Michael Golden. (High praise, indeed!)Giulia Brusco’s colors compliment Trakhanov’s art and enhance the story. Brusco’s color’s are beautiful without being overbearing or drawing attention away from the story. TKO Studios releases all of their comics in three different formats: digital download, as individual comics in a collector’s box and as a graphic novel. The comics and graphic novels are slightly larger than traditional comics/graphic novels. With TKO Studios there is no waiting for individual issues month to month — all issues are available from day one of publication! Also, each first issue is available to read online for free! Hats off to TKO Studios for these welcome innovations. If I was going to nit pick, I’d ask TKO Studios to include the individual comic series covers with the graphic novels. The 7 Deadly Sins is the complete package – great story and art – and gets my highest recommendation.

Knap.
Hele knappe strip met wederom klein beetje schade door zwakke verpakking. Amazon snapt nog steeds niet dat een goede prijs EN een goede verpakking gezond zouden zijn voor de omzet.
