Had it for 3 years and still the best instrument purchase I’ve made
Absolutely amazing ukulele. The sound quality is great. It’s clear and distinctive and just beautiful to listen to. A bit of a brighter sound but that’s just a characteristic of spruce. The color is warmer than most of the pictures show. I added the pegs for straps almost immediately because I play while standing a lot; that was a good add on. I also got new strings when I first bought it and I know this isn’t great but I haven’t changed them since. I just haven’t had to! On top of that, this thing never goes out of tune. 3 years and I’ve probably tuned it once or twice; not kidding. The only reason why I’m buying a different ukulele other than this one is because I need one with a pickup to be able to plug into an amp at this point. If you’re looking for a quality ukulele with a gorgeous sound that will last and stay in tune, buy this uke!

WAY out of tune
Absolutely beautiful finish but chromatically way out of tune to the point I could not even play it. It literally hurt my ears.Turns out the nut was just glued in the wrong place even though the fretboard was sized correctly - just sloppy workmanship.1/16" gap between the nut and fretboard on one side and 1/32" on the other! There is not supposed to be any gap!So I ripped off the nut and put it where it belongs and now it is much better, but the first fret still needs to be filed down a little.Unfortunately, I can't recommend anyone else trying this.I purchased a Hola, a Kala, and a Donner in the same week and had high hopes for the Kala, since it was the most expensive Uke, however, the Donner actually arrived with nearly perfect chromatic tuning, and that is what I play most since the Kala still does not not play in tune as well as the Donner.I give this two stars because this was NOT a $50 ukulele, and should not be so bad out of tune.If it were not for the gorgeous finish, it would have been one star. The Hola was almost as bad, but only $50 so no big surprise there.Had I kept the packaging, I would have sent the Kala back. however, I wanted to see if I could fix it.UPDATE: NOW I'm MAD - I purchased 5 Ukeleles from Amazon recently, a HILO, KALA, HOLA, ENYA, and a DONNER.The DONNER, being one of the cheapest is the only one with good intonation (is chromatically in tune all the way up to the 12th fret).ALL the others are so bad, they are virtually unplayable to a musicians ear without modifcations.IF DONNER can do it, WHY can't the others, especially when they are more expensive ?The craftsmanship on most of these UKES are excellent considering the cost, but the most important thing in my mind, is that a musical instrument should at least be in tune. The HILO was so bad, also in other areas that I returned it.Most people will not be able to correct these UKES without taking to a instrument professional for repair. This is just WRONG!

BEAUTIFUL UKE AND NICE SOUND
Beautiful Uke!!! Absolutely beautiful finish. Sounds wonderful. Nice resonance. Would recommend for either beginner or someone looking to upgrade. The strings stay in tune after a week or so. Only negative is that it does not come with any accessories. Overall very very happy with this ukulele.

Great sound, great look
I am very happy with this ukulele. I think it sounds great. I am a beginner so I don't necessarily have a lot to compare it to, but still. I like the sound a lot. I gather the spruce top gives it a nice sound pop. And it is beautiful. Looks extremely well made. It looks, feels and sounds like a high quality musical instrument.

Quality ukulele with a great sound.
I always wanted to learn a stringed instrument. Ever since going to Hawaii for my honeymoon, I’ve loved the sounds of a ukulele. I bought a kala soprano mahogany and it sounded great! I think I’m more partial to the soprano sounds. I now have 6 ukulele’s and another one on the way! Just obsessed with ukulele’s! This one is beautiful. But I still like the cheaper soprano sound better. This sound is warmer. Not as tingy as the soprano.

A Lot of Ukulele for the Money!
What a great ukulele--the workmanship is spot on, the sound is bright & clear & the spruce top really distinguishes this uke from others. The strings needed tuning but that's typical. They'll settle in after a couple of weeks or so. If you have difficulty tuning your uke, hang in there. It does get easier with time. The set-up on this uke was done very well--I don't see any issues there. I'm very happy with this ukulele--what a wonderful birthday gift from my sweet husband@

Great sound, but had a defect
Two Stars because the wood has begun to split (see photo). I like the Kala brand, it has a good reputation and the sound of this ukulele is excellent with the spruce top. Unfortunately mine after 6 months of use has developed a 2 inch crack. I noticed it just never quite stayed in tune, usually once the strings are settled in they are fine but this one required constant tweaking. I’ve had numerous guitars in my life and I have an Alvarez 12 string I bought in 1975 that’s still in perfect shape, so I know how to take care of things. Sadly there may have been a defect that was not caught by Kala, or perhaps it was sold as a second to the retailer I purchased it from. I guess I should have gotten the insurance.

Beautiful Uke, but it won't hold a tune...
This ukulele is visually stunning. The contrasting wood is a beautiful look. The sound is great too, it has a real deep tone and the sound really projects. The only fault I found was that the stock strings don't hold a tune very well. I'm not sure if it's the strings or the tuning knob mechanism. Either way, mine doesn't hold a tune out of the box.
