This book was written by a man who clearly has a love and passion for the wonders of nature and the creatures that live there, but his passion and love for the Lord is even greater. The stories in this book are captivating, but also leave the reader with morals and values woven into the Tales of the Old North Woods. The stories are appropriate for all ages and would be great to discuss as a family. There is pure pleasure in the reading, but also some deep though provoking characters in this book. Being a Christian, I was able to grasp the symbolism and appreciate the heart of the writer. This is a beautiful way to share the love of nature and the love of God, the Great Creator.

Great book to read short stories and cross between everyday life in nature and Bible teachings. Recommend the book for quick daily read, devotions, children stories, and family camping stories. The “Prayer Bird Call” kicks off the book in Chapter one, and keeps you captivated throughout.

Book is absolutely wonderful for both young people as well as anyone else. I'm getting more for gifts this Christmas. It's easy to read ... and informative for even older folks like myself... Recommend it to all.

Roy Harper’s familiarity with wildlife, talent for spinning a captivating story, and knowledge of the Bible converge in this fascinating book. The further I read, the more I realized that his genre is similar to the parables of Jesus except that he employs the interactions of animals. Each tale from the Old North Woods articulates a great truth about life that is summed up with a poignant Bible verse at the end. Layers of meaning in the narratives give adults as well as children something to ponder and discuss. Good family stories for bedtime or around a camp fire. I’m looking forward to more tales from the Old North Woods from Mr. Harper.
