Good, with occasional problems
I, too, have used these pens for years and love them--they write so smoothly and evenly. However, in the last few years, I, too, have been frustrated because sometimes the seem to "dry up" far too soon, or maybe the pen was "old" to begin with. I discovered that if I soak a recalcitrant pen in hot water, for a few minutes, the ink block dissolves and the pen writes again. A nuisance for sure, and I wish the company would do something about it.

Review By Probably This Product's Longest Consecutive User . . .
Call me some sort of nut, but I discovered blue Pentel Rolling Writer pens in 1978, and I have used them exclusively ever since. And this is no mean feat; over the years I've found that pens are a bit like cars: New models come out all the time, and it becomes nearly impossible to stick with one particular brand and model. I can't even remember the last time I was able to buy blue Pentel Rolling Writers in any retail store, so an online store like Amazon is now the only outlet. So three cheers for Amazon for continuing to carry this particular product. . . . That having been said, let me comment on the pen itself. As I said, I've used these pens exclusively for thirty-five years now, and I have noticed a certain decline in quality. I do a lot of writing; years ago that meant thirty to sixty pages per day, but nowadays I'd say five pages per day is more like it. Nevertheless, these pens don't last nearly as long before running out of ink than they used to. These days, I'd say a month of five-pages-per-day would be exceptional. Also, these past few years have also marked a certain level of product "faultiness." By this I mean that, out of a box of a dozen, be prepared to find one or two pens that just don't work at all, or that last a day at best. No doubt this is the result of the Rolling Writer no longer being a primary product of Pentel, or perhaps the fact that these days (as opposed to the '70s or '80s) they're manufactured overseas. . . . However, all that having been said, I STILL use these pens exclusively. They just FEEL better to write with, and . . . while the blue ink does get lighter as each pen is continually used . . . I've always loved that (initial) deep blue color. So if you've never used a blue Pentel Rolling Writer, do give this pen a try. And if you remember it from decades ago, bear in mind that few things retail the quality they once had, but this pen is still better than many currently on the market.

Okay
The pens write smooth, but does not last long. Not a bad price, but they do not last long enough.

Completely annoyed by the experience
I ordered a box of 12 pens & received a large package with a single pen inside. Completely annoyed by the experience.
