Angel Exterminatus: The Horus Heresy, Book 23

Iron within
After this book, Perturabo became my new favorite primarch. This book was very well written. McNeil showed off his unique writing skills: smooth flowing with in depth story telling and character portrayal. Hope the Black Library doesn't change Perturabo's character & really, really hope they follow up with him and the Iron Warriors. Black Library has a few Iron Warrior titles, but needs much more. Angel Exterminatus is a gem in the Horus Heresy series, though, like most offered, I'm not a fan of the title. I actually thought it was about Blood Angel exterminatus or somthin', definitely not that. Great read nonetheless, Perturabo is the new Horus.

Another Solid Character Dive
I've felt unsatisfied with some McNeill books in the series but this was solid and hardly wasted a page. Peturabo is not likable, but he's so real. He is capable of good and evil, and of gaining new understandings and worldviews despite being the brightest mind already. He embodies the rigid logical thinker, intending to make the world better, dreaming of the perfect city, the perfect universe, but to a fault. The plot isn't perfect, it's formula too similar to other books in the series where some characters embark on a quest but everything goes in different directions than planned. This results in lessening the importance of the conclusion. But fights, mysteries, and weirdness abound throughout, enough to keep it fun. Lots of appearances, Iron Hands, Eldar, Lucius, Sharrowkyn. Not fully satisfying but fully worth your time.

From the shoulders of giants.
If you enjoy Perturabo and Fulgrim I think you will love this book. I became immediately enraptured by Perturabo and his Iron Hands. I already thought highly of Fulgrim as a character and this novel has exponentially increased my regard for his storyline.I really don’t know how to describe how much I love this book now. Not since Horus Rising and False Gods have I been so impressed. I am going to highly recommend this book to my friends, even those that don’t know any of the lore.Feel confident buying this book, I sincerely hope you are able to enjoy it half as much as I did/do.

Requiem for the Primarch that could have been.
This isn't the best story in the HH series, but the insight into Perturabo makes this a 5 star entry. His story is the most tragic of all the Primarchs I think and this book provides the reader a glimpse of the greatness that could have been Perturabo, and highlights how a brilliant mind and noble spirit can be worn down by unrelenting warfare. There is a scene towards the end that shows a glimpse of his innermost hopes and dreams and it truly is saddening to witness the potential that was lost.

Like most Mcniell books, this one was okay
The good: iron warriors are made interesting and distinct from other traitor legions.Perterabo is flawed, but utterly competent. A terrific lyrics built villainThe bad: side characters are wooden with no growth or personality outside their 40k description. Iron warrior space marine is mean, tough, and cruel....x50. Fulgrim is interesting but the rest of his Legion is not.The meh: the whole story feels....incomplete? Felt a little let down by the climax. It ended up being a garbled mess of 40k words that didn't really mean much.Overall, decent book. Good into to iron warriors

Is Perturabo a decent guy?
I hated Iron Warriors because of Ultramarines Omnibus. They were the villans of the series and cartoonish evils. As their primarch I never thought Perturabo was a decent, honourable guy (for a traitor primarch ofcourse).Fulgrim was as always, an a.. and his descent into Chaos did not help at all. Next to him Perturabo looks like a paladin in this book. Some parts of the book was a drag and not very well thought of. For example what was the end game for eldar guides? They were only plot devices and this was a weak point for book. But in the end this was a good book and it made me like a Traitor Primarch and his legion for a change.I recommend this book for Horus Heresy fans.

SLAPPED
Slapped like my grandma with a switch. Slapped like the back side of my mom's hand. Slapped like my wife testing a melon at the supermarket.

One of the top HH novellas
This book is amongst the best novels from the Horus Heresy series (at least the early books in the storyline).I don't want to give out any spoilers but it is a nice portrayal of a few legions and primarchs as well as an interesting piece of the main story line.

Good
This book was a bit too long but then again that's Graham McNeill for you.I really came to empathise with Perturabo as this is the first book in which he takes centre stage along with his depraved brother Fulgrim. Also go loyalists!

Weiter so.
