Shredderman: Secret Identity

This is a super good book to introduce to young (2nd/3rd graders & up) readers to spark reading enthusiasm. Even if you have to read the book in the beginning, your child will want to read independently just to find out what is going to happen next. I give this book ( & the other three in the series) as gifts to entice the joy of reading! Also, it’s nice to support a local author who lives near our area. We met her at a book signing years ago & she is very nice. So now I pass on her “gift of writing” to all I know! Reading is the key to success in all young people. Why not make it fun?

My son is in 4th grade and reading is not his favorite activity. We have every book known to man to inspire his desire to read... non-fiction, fiction, you name it. A friend recommended the Shredderman series, so I ordered the first two on Amazon. We started reading this book together last night and my son can't put the book down! This has never happened before, as usually he's counting the minutes when he reads. With this book, he wants to read on and find out what happens. I think he can relate to the characters and, because he's also good at math, can relate to the main character Nolan, the "Shredderman." The book is well written, funny, realistic and has some great one-liners. I've found myself laughing out loud. A great book about how "brains win over muscle." I highly recommend this book series, particularly if you have a son who doesn't like reading.

My 9 year old son loves this book! I had to choose between 4 different books to get him for a summer reading extra-credit activity for school, and after reading the other reviews, picked this one. Thanks goodness I did - this is the first time I've actually seen him sit down and be interested in a fictional story book! In the past, the only books that even half-way interested him were non-fictional books about space, animals, rocks, dinosaurs, etc., and he would only skim through those and read the parts he wanted. I read this book myself so I would be able to know what he is talking about when he starts work on his book report, and found it to be funny and entertaining. My son laughed out loud at several points, and had to bring the book to me to read those parts to me. I am sure I will be purchasing the next books in the series in the near future!

My 2nd grade class loves this read aloud!

I read this book with my In2Books Pen Pal. This is a GREAT book about bullying that has a little of a beat 'em at the own game twist.Great for the elementary school students to help teach them compassion when facing bullying, but also a smart rather than physical defense to make it stop for themselves and thier friends. Great for their parents because it is easy to discuss themes in this book that can lead to a good converation for the family.

My grandson loves to read. He will read any kind of book you get him. He enjoyed this series.

This is such a fine book. Not only does it contain humor, but it also contains a depth from which teachers can create meaningful discussion. It is a book that I can use for both intermediate students and middle school students who are reading below grade level.
