Fiends on the Other Side-Disney Chills, Book Two

Out of all of the Disney Chills books, I was most excited for this one. I really did like the first half, which is why I've given this read 3 stars. Jamal worked as a relatable main character, the New Orleans backdrop was immersive, & the introduction to Dr. Facilier was creepy & did a great job of bringing the Princess & the Frog villain to life on the pages. But it went downhill fast.The Dr's lines got repetitive & unimaginative immediately, and I'm pretty sure the book outright states that this wasn't the actual Dr. Facilier from the movie, just a new Shadow Man that had taken his title. Not to mention, the extremely unsatisfying ending.*Spoilers?Jamal's dire fate, while expected in this genre, felt forced & unearned. & The ambiguous win for the Dr. didn't feel like much, either.

Did not see the ending coming ! I love the retellings of my favorite Disney stories and this did not disappoint. I look forward to finishing this series. I recommend for all ages.

I like how these stories are not about happily ever after. It teaches kids that choices have consequences. Hoe your decisions effect others.

My daughter (11) absolutely loves this series. She finished book one in one day. Within one week she read books 1-3 and we have preordered book 4. I only wish the releases were a bit more frequent... but worth the wait!!

This is the first book a read out of the series and it was actually pretty good. I just wanted something new to read to pass the time but this makes me want to read the whole series in order to see what is in store. The ending of this book was definitely not what I expected and it did not disappoint.

I enjoy reading a good horror book, but this one takes the cake. I didn't realize how the antagonist obtained his powers in the movie until I read this book. It gave me chills down my spine. If you want a different ending to a Disney classic, this book will be the one for you.

Such a good book! Read it all within 2 hours 😐😂

I am not the biggest fan of the villain of this story, so I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it. It held my interest and keep me wanting to know what happened next. The biggest issue I have with these books is after a reading a few now, they never ever seem to get a happy ending. So it's kind of making me lose interest in the series as a whole. But since you don't need to read the series in any specific order, I highly recommend this book.

I bought this 5 book series for my 12 year old nice for her birthday. She had them all read in a week and a half. Needless to say, I think she loved them. I deem these a great book series. I highly recommend.

Cute little take on a Disney movie, almost as good as the twisted Disney series. I'll probably finish off the rest of this series.
