Orthodox Icon Patterns Vol II: Patterns & Sketches for Iconographers

This and the companion Volume I are useful and a good buy in my opinion as they contained many sketches and patterns.

An amazing book, with prayers, traceable icons, list of colours that go with each icon which is a helpful guide. I can’t fault it at all. Would buy again.A lot of icon pictures of saints, a few with the Saviour and Mary. But mostly saints.Overall a good book which will help me on my way iconography.

Good patterns for future icons

I like the simple line drawings which makes for ease of tracing. The colour guide for me helps as a starting point.The on slight negative is I would prefer the witing to be in Russian or Greek otherwise I am very happy.I do not paint I embroider icons so maybe I have different requirements.

I’m a ‘confident beginner’ and always looking for books that will help me progress with my icon knowledge and execution. This book has interesting and diverse patterns in. I found the colour reference for each image really useful. Liked that each pattern comes with commemoration dates and prayers. Clear images and generally a really easy to use Book. A couple of favourites, including Saint George.

Wonderful book for beginners.

There are so many things to like! The patterns are beautiful, and there are patterns for borders. Prayers are also in the book for iconographers. It is a blessing.

This provided tracings of icon images critical to reproducing these images for painting.

Eine breite Zusammenstellung von Umrisszeichungen von Ikonen aus verschiedenen Kulturkreisen, etwa Griechenland, Antiochia, Russland - aber auch Wales, Schottland und Äthiopien. Dazu jeweils ein paar Informationen, wie Lebensdaten der Heiligen oder ein Gebet in englischer Sprache. Außerdem zu jedem Bild eine Liste der zu verwendenden traditionellen Farben. Im hinteren Bereich der Sammlung Vorschläge zur Gestaltung der Rahmen, Hintergründe, Heiligenscheine. Ein reicher Fundus also für jeden, der sich mit Heiligen oder Ikonenmalerei beschäftigen möchte.

I am very happy with these 4 volume of iconographic patterns. The 4 books has many images and patterns, which are helpful to write and create new icons. The additional prayers, and descriptions about the life of the depicted people makes these books a real treasure for everyone who are interested in iconography. My parcel arrived 6 days earlier than it was accepted. I am very happy with the content and the additional service too. Thank you so much.
