Hey, how about overthrow the western continent?
Enjoyable series. If you enjoy strategy and tactics in your anime / short this is an enjoyable series. The crown prince at his heart has what all geniuses need, a lazy streak (Nero Wolfe, Mycroft Holmes, Houtarou Oreki, Victorique, Ikta Solork, Alice). These geniuses only desire is to do nothing more with their life than the pursuits they find enjoyable. Work is only a means to an end.And so it is with prince Wein, his most earnest wish is to run away to a life of leisure with no responsibilities. However he’s too clever for his own good his plans backfiring as the nations around him crumble. In this book Wein receives an invitation to a trap, facing tricky opponents on multiple fronts he fights his way home to face a rebel army led by his once close friend. Some standard tropes for this kind of Japanese short story but I find the characters and situations they find themselves in fun to read. Often Wein’s actions are taken as prescient and his plans several step ahead of his opponents, usually this is the furthest thing from the truth, however in this book his vassals and temporary allies look upon his actions with fear. The only person who can keep up with him is Ninym his unofficial aid and cohort, the white haired girl from a race of people ostracized by the rest of the civilized world. To me she is the heart of the story, keeping Wein on track fulfilling his duties to his people, seeing him as he really is when he is trying to escape his responsibilities. One thing the author hints at in book 2 and I don’t think Ninym is fully aware of yet is if the civilized world is against Ninym, Wein might just overthrow it.

Good read
This was exactly what I was hoping to read. Light, humorous, and fill of whimsical actions. I've followed the series for a while now, and this third installment is just as good as the first two.On the downside, it's a bit short, and waxes didactic on explanations, sort of like scenes in the How A Realist Hero series (very good too).On the upside, it's almost a 'Slice of Life' angle on a fantasy realm. Entertaining for the hour needed to read it, and the next hour for re-reading. And maybe a third as you go back to re-evaluate how everything is going right for the Prince, despite the hazards such correctness provides for his plans. To the author: keep it up! Pre-ordering the next volume asap!

The poor lad who has been forced to be a wise leader instead of following his hedonistic dream
The Genius Prince's Guide to Raising a Nation Out of Debt (Hey, How About Treason?) is a fine and witty work, always worth reading. Prince Wein continues to be frustrated about having to give up his dream of being a decadent aristocrat with endless leisure time and settle down as a wise monarch, brave warrior and cunning politician. This time, there is trouble with an expanding western kingdom, a powerful religious order, a conquered kingdom's resistance force, trouble with his own lords, not to mention a king who'd like to hunt Ninym for sport. It's fun watching Wein match wits and come up with clever solutions. Indeed, I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of readers think the country would be better off if we had people like Wein and Ninym in the White House, compared to the likely choices we'll have this November.

The plotting continues
It has been a year since Wein defeated Marden and the conquest of Marden by the opportunistic neighbouring kingdom of Cavarin. When Wein is invited to join the Spring Fest in Cavarin's capital and the conference of religious leaders of the dominant faith in the West by the king of Cavarin he cannot refuse. Something is afoot, but Wein has difficulties guessing what. He has to keep his wits about and find the right allies to deal with both external and internal threats.Much like Book 2, this is mostly about the plotting of the political leaders, this time in the West. We get to see a bit more of the world and Wein's motivations and goals, only a bit though. It lacks the personal touches of Book 2 though, no flashbacks or childhood friends beyond his loyal aide. I thoroughly enjoyed the story for the same reasons as the first two books: a smart protagonist, but one whose plans do not always succeed, a complete story and an interesting world of which we slowly see more off.Character revelations are slow though, and at times there the exposition is a bit too long especially considering other things (such as Wein's true motivations) are kept secret on purpose. I also find the number of villainous insane rulers a bit on the high side. It makes for a good story, entertaining villains and there are ample of examples in real life of similarly insane rulers, but so many at the same time in a position of power?Still, if you enjoy a solid kingdom building story that is more about political manoeuvring with the occasional large scale battle with a slowly revealed mystery surround the motivations of the people involved with a smart protagonist than this is a great light novel. It is a great addition to the story and I am looking forward how the Natra's journey towards greatness continues in the next books.

Worth the wait! Full of Interesting Politics and Great Humor
This was everything I'd been waiting for and more! I was so disappointed when the preorder got pushed back (thanks, corona) but it was worth the wait. This book was chock-full of some really interesting, intriguing, exciting, and surprising stuff. The politics were so fun to watch, and there was some war, too. We got to know the West better, which was fun and interesting. I love Wein. And Ninym. And the whole series! The humor was great as usual, and the last page was hilarious! All in all, I really loved this book and greatly look forward to the next one, which releases in September, about three months from now. 5 stars! Check this out if you enjoyed the previous books in the series!

Great Continuation
This novel was great. The threat didn’t seem as significant to the Genius Prince’s Kingdom as the first two, but it doesn’t detract from the story. Ninym is as cute as ever and Wein is decisive when it counts (as much of spoiler as you’re going to get ha). If you enjoyed the first two you won’t be disappointed.

Another fine volume in a series about an OP MC who is too lazy, and just wants out
Let's be honest. If Wein had the drive to match his mental talent and physical skill, this would be a series of military conquest and occupation good for 2-3 books, as he manipulates the world into joining him.Fortunately though, he is a lazy good-for-nothing who hides much of his skill and ability. So the conquest of the known world will take significantly longer.Ninym is as cute as ever, and still not treated as an object or sexual/ecchi plot device :)

A lot of fun
Like always gorgeous story. And even when I guessed how to the relationship with Zeno will end, reading it was no less fun.
