These are not suitable for Underwater/Marine use. First product is almost pure (1100) aluminum rather than a stronger alloy as treads in knob are not coated and in direct contact with steel screws they with suffer a strong cathodic reaction when exposed to salt water while in contact with the steel screw. Second the screws are mildly magnetic indicating poor quality stainless steel so they will corrode to some extent in salt water. Bottom line is the uncoated soft aluminum of the threads will rapidly (days) breakdown and deposit on the dissimilar metal screws when in salt water. Choose clamps (NOT THESE) made of hardened aluminum (5606 or 7075) alloys with threads coated after threading (same black/blue/red color in the threads). Or best quality would have a threaded insert in the knob of the same material as the screw to alleviate electrolytic potential between threads and screws and locate strength at the thinest portion of the mechanical clamp.
