i thought this book would suck. i have found that out of the reading i have had for grad school the policy readings have been some of my favorite!!! they really teach you so much and its interesting to learn about. the information you learn is pertinent, both to a career in social work and also to understanding politics and how/ what policies affect day-to-day life. viva la social welfare policy

The book is better than acceptable by any criteria. I would have given five stars except it came with a sticker advertising textbook rentals from Amazon. NOT COOL! Don’t do that again, m’kay?!

The book was in great shape, I figured being a rental it would be torn and weathered but it looked brand new. It a great book to introduce you to the social welfare system we have in America. It has a detailed history of social welfare policy and programming as well, a must know for all upcoming social workers!

Clearly explains social welfare policies and programs. This was required reading for a social work class but I believe that it would be helpful to anyone. How many individuals really know what social security covers? This book explores the beginnings of social programs as well as current situations and it also looks at implications within social programs.

The text is text but wow did it arrive worn and haggard. I really hope I dont get charged because the front cover is falling off.
