VilrosRaspberry Pi 4 4GB Basic Starter Kit with Heavy Duty Self Cooling Aluminum Alloy Case (4GB Silver Case)

Did a lot of research and found this kit to be the best bang for its money. I didn’t need all the fancy memory cards etc. just case and power supply along with the pi. The case is simple, no fan to break as it is simply a large heat sink. It came with thermal paste also to aid with heat transfer and dissipation. I use my raspberry pi 4 to run a plex media server. This package is nice and small and seems to do the job perfectly.

This is an ideal kit for a fanless RPi installation. I'm using them to decode RTSP streams from IP cams for display on 1080p monitors. The case provides heat sink cooling. I don't know how it impedes wireless range since I'm using it wired. The screw hangers on the back are a bonus, but I'm taping some thin card stock behind the holes inside the case to prevent mounting screws from contacting the circuit board. Boards are a tight fit. I had to file some down around the edges to get them to fit. (Not the case's fault, but rather the RPi board.) Came with conductive grease, little rubber feet, and an assembly tool. Nice.

I received the kit and am glad I went this route instead of buying items separately. The accessories that I liked the most were:*Power adapter with on/off switch.*Heatsink case appears durable, protects from dust, and helps keep temps few degrees cooler. The case does get warm, that's how you know it's working.The Pi 4 kit arrived on time, was well packaged, and was complete (no missing items). It's reasonably priced and would recommend for those looking for a near complete kit (doesn't include memory card).Side note: I bought my sd card separately and use Retropie and EmulationStation. Pi 4 works with USB wireless keyboard/mouse and 8bitdo controllers.

I had a DOA power supply, I emailed Vilros in my panic, before realizing they had a real phone number on the same page with a real person to talk to. We verified it against a know good 3A USB C power supply that I had for another PI that I had and they are now sending me a replacement.The case protects the PI 4B very well and the included thermal paste with spreader seems to help keep the temps down. I currently have it laying above my TV running PIHOLE busy blocking around 63% of the requests for a PI is reporting 98F.Just remember to look for a SD card because the kit does not come with one, I got a SanDisk Extreme PRO microSDHC, it was also cheap and crazy fast and works great.

Got my new Pi 4. VERY impressed with the case. Speedy delivery. Very satisfied for about 10 minutes...Then the Pi went dead.I'm returning it, and will order a new one.So, on the downside it stopped working. Also, Vilros should dump the Pi bag and throw in a MicroSD instead.On the upside, the VERY nice case? It comes with a little applicator of thermal grease. That was very nice too.

I've had a bit of a saga with this kit, but the end result is perfect so it still gets 5-Stars from me. The Pi 4 that shipped with my original kit was DOA. I was not able to get it to boot or show anything on the screen despite following multiple guides. I contacted Vilros after exhausting my options, provided my Amazon order number, and they shipped a new board out. I'm happy to say the new board is working great!The only thoughts of what I think happened is that the Pi 4 comes in a plain box, no static wrap. I was incredibly concerned when I opened it and just saw it sitting in there, thinking I got someone's return, and when it didn't work I became even more skeptical, but it was made right quickly, and I am super happy with the outcome.

This kit is nice! It is easy and cheap to buy an SD card for it.Some assembly required.I suggest you dry-fit the parts together before you spread the heat-sink compound around. I tried to put the board into the wrong half of the case first. (I'm an engineer. I don't read instructions, I write them.) You put the board into the half with the connectors poking out first.You don't need a NOOBS formatted micro SD card. It is so easy to format one yourself using the "Raspberry PI Imager" free download tool. Or better, just use the imager to load the operating system you really want, and have the Pi boot up faster that going through NOOBS.Great kit! I'd buy it again.

I bought this case because it is fanless. Many of the other Raspberry Pi 4 cases have fans and all of my experience with fans is that they are noisy, need cleaning, and eventually will fail and can also cause overheating. This case is self cooling as it acts like a giant heatsink. The case seems to be engineered well as I can feel the top of it warm when the Pi is running so I know that it's pulling the heat from the board. Other reviews mentioned the screws touching the board, but in the one I received two of the screws go through the Pi where its mounting holes are and the other two are next to the board and don't interfere with it at all. Maybe they changed the design. Overall I'm extremely happy with this product.
