Replacement W10902814 Washplate Compatible with Whirlpool Washer - W108396887

This repair actually worked! This new washer plate fit perfectly onto the grooved spline shaft, replacing the factory plate that had been stripped. Installation was simple (see YT videos). Side by side, it looks identical to the factory version. I expected the spline portion to be plastic, but it was metal like the original. It may be a cheaper knock off (half the price compared to Maytag), but it does the job. We’ve been using it for a few wash loads, and it seems fine. Overall, it’s a poor design by Maytag. There is a lot of torque on a relatively small spline connection as the washer agitates a heavy wet load. Although the original plate lasted 5+ years, I have doubts this is a long-term fix.

My husband and I are not DIY type people but we did not want to buy a new washer and did not want to pay to get my washer fixed. We found a You Tube video with my exact washer showing the replacement of the wash plate and some other part and decided to try and fix it ourselves. The price is much better than what we found elsewhere and with prime membership we received it the next day. Once we started to fix the washer, we found that it really was an easy process. It took us about 30 minutes to get it all done and I now have a working washer.

It fits and works on the machine, however the wash-plate did not include a center cap for the installation bolt, and the original (from Maytag) is too loose and wont stay on. I may have to silicone it in place, but that's not an optimum solution.

I bought this exactly 1 month ago and the teeth in it has already worn down and my washing machine is not working yet again. Poor quality product.

Easy to install.Be sure to use Loctite on the bolt and let it cure before using.Also, the washer parts would last longer if it’s not overloaded with towels in the Normal load setting,use the Bulky setting at half load with towels.This is my experience.

Perfect fit. Easy to install. Did not include center hub cover, but the old hub cover fit perfectly and has not come off in the last 12 or 15 washes. Exact replacement.

It took about 15 minutes to remove the damaged wash plate and install the new one. The new plate has a steel hub to engage with the drive shaft, the original was all plastic - one reason it failed. I recommend using a thread locker on the bolt when replacing the wash plate.

This part replaces the old original part and it works perfect. Very simple to do by removing one bolt literally takes less than 10 minutes. Best to replace the hub assembly underneath it as well and this part is available on Amazon for $18.
