Informative But Poorly Made - Thailand deserves Better...
Amazing Thailand was very informative, but also very poorly made. It appears the maker has found a way to pay for cool vacations with a cheap camera and little camera skill. If I had time I would produce much better tourist films to pay for my vacations. Thailand is a wonderful place and deserved much better than this.

Do not ride the elephants, despite what this guy says.
I thought it was interesting the narrator expressed so much concern about the impact 'trekkers' (not to be confused with trekkies, lol. Ie tourists hiking in the woods, not fans of Star Trek) might have on the local hill tribes, but then he jumped on an elephant for a ride with one off-handed comment about how some people 'had an issue with it.' Um, yea, some people do have a well qualified issue with riding elephants and the abuse the elephants endure in order to become submissive to the mahouts. I guess this video was made in 2007 so hopefully nowadays more people "have an issue with riding elephants.'Besides all that, I wouldn't pay to watch this documentary, but I gleaned some information while playing it in the background. He had fun following his dream and who am I not to support that?! Amazing Thailand!

Watching this made us want to visit the country
Chose this movie to watch because husband was stationed in Thailand 65-66. Very pleasantly surprised. Movie is well filmed, narrated and adventurous. Beautiful, smiling, peaceful people - 95% of the people are Buddhists. We will definitely look at a trip there and probably for at least 3 weeks. Great movie.

Wholesome
If your into a very wholesome/boring travel video about Thailand than this is for you. Poor introduction to Bangkok in the beginning of your video...immediately launched into all the negative aspects, crowds, heat etc... Would never recommend.

From the Heart!
I am Thai and I believe that this documentary (or travel diary) was made from the heart of someone who took extensive efforts to learn and assimilate another culture. At least it was the feeling that I got. Someone made an issue of Thai words being mis-pronounced. The pronounciation was not perfect, but I knew exactly what he was referring to. Getting the correct tone is difficult. However, I do not see it as bad pronounciation, but rather as a testimony to the extent that someone has taken to even pronounce it as good as it was pronounced given that the narrator was not a native Thai speaker. Good job and I wished that people would see the effort as opposed to trying to find imperfections in something so distant from the intent of the film. All world travelers will enjoy the personal approach. If you expected Hollywood, then this may not be for you. This is a film made from the heart for true-hearted travelers.

Excellent video
Summer 2006 planning a trip to Thailand we purchased several guidebooks and DVD's. While this DVD was more expensive than some others we purchased it was by far the best. Very informative with nice video segments. I agree with another reviewer that the thai words and titiles were spoken with a terrible accent however it was still an outstanding video. Well worth the price. Our Thailand vacation was an incredible trip. In addition to purchasing guidebooks I suggest reading Wikitravel Thailand on-line for extra travel information.
