CHINKIANG VINEGAR 2x21OZ

Vinegar and hot oil are two staples of Thai cooking. This is a premium brand of Chinese made vinegar and one of the most widely used in the best restaurants in Thailand and China. This is a very good brand of vinegar and it deserves five stars.What doesn't deserve five stars is the seller. I had a problem with this messed up listing. This is not a 21 oz. bottle or a 16.9 oz. bottle, but a 18.6 fl. oz. bottle according to the label. The listing calls for TWO bottles, but the seller only sent ONE. I contacted the seller and they quickly sent out a second bottle, but there shouldn't have been a discrepancy in the listing, and I shouldn't have had to contact the seller. The product is five stars, but the seller that I bought from I wouldn't use again.

Really like this one. Tried another one but not only did it taste odd, it leaked when I poured it. Highly recommend this brand.

Unfortunately I was sent the one in the photo, Golden Plum, even though it says Gold Mountain is the product. Unfortunate only because I have celiac, and must be gluten free and the Golden Plum has wheat bran. The Gold mtn does not have wheat bran. I can’t find a gluten free brand in any of the Asian stores near me.

Definitely not Gold Plum, as shown in the photo. I found the real Gold Plum at a local grocery at a much lower price. One of the bottles had leaked during shipment, creating an aromatic mess of packaging materials. Shipping package was intact, just a bottle that leaked. It smells and tastes fine, reasonable substitute for Gold Plum if you cannot obtain it locally.

I thought this was going to be like the sauce used with Pot Stickers, but I was wrong. The bottle was leaking when it came in the shipping box, not much but just enough to make it sticky. Washed it off and it was OK.

What I received looks very similar to what is pictured, except for one crucial difference. It is NOT "Gold Plum" brand, which is what I wanted. The picture clearly shows the Gold Plum logo in two places, but what I recieved instead had a CTF-Brand (Combine Thai Foods Co., Ltd) logo.Note: After further review, another comment says this is made by Hengshun, same as Gold Plum, and is therefore just as good. I have no way of knowing if that's true, and I'm harsh on sellers who don't use photos of their own product, but I'll add one star back.

I wanted this for some of my Chinese recipes (most especially dan dan noodles) and there's just no real substitute for Chinese black vinegar which adds this almost indescribable smokey, spicy taste.Gold Plum is one of the recommended brands (notably by Fuchsia Dunlop), but there are a lot of inferior copycat brands out there (especially watch out for Red Plum).It costs a little more than other sellers on Amazon, and it's somewhat annoying to have to buy 2 at a time, but it is worth it to get the real thing.

I needed this particular product as I was doing the book of stir frying to the sky's edge. I could not find this product at any of our local stores be it asian or any other. I found it on amazon and was very pleased. Very good in my recipes.
