Why did my last batch had little beads in it. I love this product when it's nice and smooth. What gives?

Yep, that's happened to me. Somewhere the package got hot and melted. I just put the tin in a bowl of hot water, let the balm melt, shake it up, and then let it cool. It'll be nice and smooth again.

What is the consistency of this beard balm? Is it relatively easy & quick to apply?

After reading the additional answers, I'd say the consistency is more like butter than peanut butter; thin and applies quickly. It's pretty much an oil after you rub it in your palm for a second or two. I like the balm because it's easier to gauge the amount I want to use vs. oil. After application I use the remaining oil in my hair and it works great!
