Kundun: A Biography of the Family of the Dalai Lama

Certainly a great book about the family of the Dalai Lama filled with details. Many facts and details are from other significant biographies and books, so there is some overlap with other published works, but there is quite a lot of new information here also. The difficulty with it, perhaps no fault of the author’s, is that it can be easy to confuse the names of the Dalai Lama’s family. Their names change in differing periods, and that is also a source of confusion. Overall however I learned a good deal from this book and would recommend it to those interest in the depth and details of the Dalai Lama’s life. Not for the casual reader, but the serious one.
