I love it.
I love this float. It's a real pleasure to lounge and drift around. It's pretty heavy when you pull it out, so maybe be careful of thrashing it, or the stitching may not last - I mean, thats a lot of strain on a stitched item. After a few floats you have to redistribute the beads back to under your knees, just bounce it and a few gentle kicks, and it'll re-fix itself. But, that being all the "complaints", (and they're really not, more like observations), I'm gonna enjoy this float a lot. Way better than an inflatable, those never last long. Might get a second one for guests. But these things are pretty big to store. We'll see.

Loooove this chair
I originally got this as a pool chair float, but we’ve actually been using it on our boat and absolutely love it! It’s really comfortable to sit and relax on while we’re out on the lake, and the size is perfect for lounging without taking up too much space. It’s sturdy but still easy to move around. I also really like that it gives you some support instead of having to completely lay down. It has held up great with our use so far and is easy to bring along on the boat. Love the cup holder and that it’s easy to clean. Overall, I’m really happy with it and think it’s a great option for the pool or lake. We’ll definitely be getting a lot of use out of it this summer!

Don’t let negative reviews stop you from trying.
I was skeptical. But I love this!! Aaaand you have 30 days to try it. So other people say it’s too difficult to adjust the beans inside, but if you put all the beans at the bottom they will disperse where they are supposed to go. I got the mat too (the one you lay on) and I like it too. I knew I would but I wasn’t so sure about this one. Here is what I love about it, I can float around without getting my hair wet. I’m a grown up. Sometimes I just want to be in the pool and not get my hair wet so this is perfect for me for those times. Other times I want to lay down on that mat so I can tan and I don’t care so much about getting my hair wet that’s a different day. The next thing you need to know about this is it is it bean bag. So just like with a bean bag if you let a bunch of kids jump around on it it’s gonna break and get beads all over the place. This is not the mat for kids to be jumping on. These are definitely for adults. Kids will ruin these very quickly I’m sure. I’ve always been stingy with my floats in the past and never let kids jump on my float but I look forward to these lasting mean for years to come, and when they do finally wear out. I’m definitely getting another one of these chairs.

Ripped after 1 month
Our Big Joe failed after about 30 days of ownership. We started losing the filling after a few days of continued heavy use. When not in the pool, we stored it in a climate controlled shed. Buyer beware on this one, not worth the price.

Quality versus price
Love this float and its so comfortable in the water. However is starting to come apart at the seam and not sure if its worth the price or i just got a bad one. Have only used for 3 weeks

Glorious chair! ❤️
I’ve purchased several Big Joe floaties because I love not having to put air in them. This Captain’s Float is by far my favorite and worth the price. I fear I will never grab any of my other ones. At first feel, I was worried it wasn’t packed with beads as much as it should be, but once I actually sat in it, it’s perfection. As others have said, it feels like a recliner chair. I like that I’m sitting up enough to be scrolling on my phone (great elbow support) but Laying back enough to have my whole anterior side facing the sun for tanning. I also like being up out of the water a bit, personal preference as I get cold when the sun goes behind clouds. Basically, it’s the comfort that I appreciate. Even though I hold true to 5 stars, I have cons: The cup holder is pointless unless you are keeping an unopened one in it. A can is about all that would fit and it tilts towards you when you are in the floatie so having it opened would cause issues. There’s a pocket that would fit a phone, but the bottom of the pocket sits down in the water, so anything you put in there, would need to be totally waterproof. Storing sucks, as it’s a large floatie, but that’s the price you pay when avoiding an air pump. I’m in a 9” round stock tank pool. You could fit 3 of these in here with the assumption you’ll be sitting and throwing back some margaritas with a couple friends, not kicking and swimming about.

Not bad, if you have another float for your feet
This chair easily keeps my heavy bottom above water. I would bet that this float chair would still keep a 400 pound person no more than waist deep in the water. My teenager can climb onto it from in the water, sit on her knees, and even scared me by nearly standing up on it from that kneeling position. That said, for an adult who is not skinny and athletic, it is difficult to get my butt back far enough into the seat to not feel like I'm tipping forward. Maybe getting on it from a deck or the shallows of a beach would be easier, but I've tried a dozen times from the ladder if our above ground pool and it's not possible. However, if you have another float, like a noodle, to use as a foot rest, it keeps you up well enough to float peacefully, for a while. After about 20 minutes or so, just your body weight vs. the natural physics of foam beads, you do eventually have to hop off and start over. It's best to try to move the foam beads so that you can fold the back over the top, flip it back, hop on backwards. If you are comfortable with a straddle approach, that helps keep you from tipping forward as well. It's mostly just trying to be seated far enough back to stay on well, which the design makes slightly difficult. It works well enough. Star deductions for price and design. Honestly, if there were more division between the seat and back, stitching that prevented the foam from moving around so much while on it, it would be more worth the cost and a 5 star product.

Awesome chair!
I booked down and ordered this for my husband who is picky about his pool chairs. He’s over 6 feet so it’s harder to find something appropriate for him. He loves it! (So do I) it’s super Sunday and no need to blow up. I loved it so much, I bought the flat lounger as well. It’s a little pricey compared to buying direct from Big Joe but harder to ship to Canada so I just gave in and spent the money. Hopefully, it lasts.

Hard to get on in the water
This item is great if you start out of the pool. Trying to get on it in the water is rough. Beads move around and it is never where you want them. Start out of the water and jump back into it.
