A great research book for Civil War bayonets. Not just pictures but descriptions of the proper bayonet that went with a particular musket. You can go out and buy 10 other books about firearms, and all of them combined would not equal the information in this book. Easy to find the guns you are looking for, and then the bayonets that would be correct for them. I really like the fact you do not have to read thirty pages to get the needed information. Very brief, but has all the needed information. If you are going to buy only one book on bayonets, this should be it.

This book is an amazing treatment of the American socket bayonet, along with scabbards. It covers a wide swath of American military history. Covers arsenal, import, and commercial socket bayonets. Clear line drawings and well organized.
