This is the PERFECT kid lunch container. No, the divider isn't stable/fixed; it's meant simply to divide contents... a lunch time-out not lunch apartheid. It keeps the sandwich snug, intact, and safe from a blitzkrieg by the grapes. A ritz cracker on one side will not sneak into your ham sandwich on the other side. Some days when the sandwich is bigger than other days, move the dividing wall. It's is just an insert...it can be removed entirely or adjusted side to side. No the divider doesn't serve as a barrier to liquid; it is just a little plastic wall that keeps the carrot sticks from terrorizing the quesadilla triangles until such a time as they all get along at lunch. My Son used his press-on lid container for lunch from 1st-5th grade and now he's getting a brand new upgraded "Full Seal" clip-lid one for middle school. Maybe I'll splurge for the one with the stainless-steel base for High School. This little gem may not look impressive, but it's fantastic. Much better than the containers with fixed, moulded compartments.
