What size ferrel /nut does this fit--what outside diameter of pipe?

This is for use with 1/2” copper pipe, the jaws will fit over any size compression nut. However I found this tool useless as the jaws continually slipped off the nut no matter what I tried. I sent it off to Goodwill and bought a different style ring remover. Aloha

does that little bottom section in the picture slide off to leave only the "pin" ? (others on line show 2 pics with that part separate)

If I understand your question, the section you refer to separates from the tool. The part in question goes into the copper line. The outer arms pull the compression ring of the line.

Can this remove the HF impeller?

I don't know but this tool is absolutely worthless.
