Animal Line Drawing: Learn 150+ Step-by-Step Animals, Insects, Birds, Fish, and Other Cuties

I love this book! The steps are simple and easy to follow yet the end results look refined and suitable for incorporation into designs of any sort. Because there is no linear progression, it's easy to pick up the book and draw a few animals here and there in your free time (but also suitable for longer practice-it's addicting)! I personally like to draw in pencil first, refine a bit, and then trace over with a monoline marker.I would highly recommend this book to those just getting started drawing as well as more seasoned artists and designers looking to incorporate fun, yet clean and refined whimsical style into their work. I'm looking forward to incorporating some watercolor washes and incorporating what I learned into my hand-lettering!

The creative content of this book is great, as Peggy always provides. Simple line drawings of animals that are broken down into steps. Unfortunately the quality of the book itself leaves something to be desired the pages are very thin like newspaper and you can see through one or two drawings behind it. This is a little bit troublesome as the new lines that you added the steps are in gray which turned out to be the same color as the black showing through from the page behind it.

Great if you are learning to draw. I use all the books in the series, at least 3x week

I bought this for my child but will be referencing it as well. It’s a great book to teach yourself step-by-step drawing. Simple and straight to the point. Great book to learn to draw with as I just did a few sketches by following the prompts in the book. Get your sketch paper ready and let the learning begin.

You really can't ever go wrong with a book from Peggy Dean, and this one is filled to the brim with fantastic creatures from around the world (animals, fish, insects, birds etc). She walks you through the steps to create each one, which is great for all ages! It's the perfect book for budding artists or those just learning to draw animals.

I was so excited to get this in the mail! I have 2 other books from her and I absolutely love them. Thers are soo many animals to draw and I am a sucker for learning to draw.....anything. I absolutely recommend this to any kind of artist!

This book has been so lovely to go through. Peggys instructions aren’t simple and easy to follow / replicate. Very beginner friendly!

All of Peggy Dean’s books are in my library. I always know Peggy’s instructions will be clear and concise. I was excited to purchase this book as I love animals. I am going to write my memories of being a zoo docent (volunteer teacher) for 18 years. This book makes it possible for me to add line drawings in my journal to go along with my wonderful memories.

Such a lovely book! Peggy's other books are firm favourites and I was excited to treat myself to this one, especially during lockdown with some time to get stuck into it. Although my skills aren't as good as Peggy's I am able to draw recognisable animals and they are improving with practice. Great fun, lovely simple step by step approach and such a wide range of creatures to try! I like the simple, clean layout too. I am now thinking about combining the animals and birds with the flowers and foliage from the Botanical Line Drawing book, and making little woodland scenes. Thank you Peggy!

Absolutely love this book. Now I can draw all the animals I love without feel intimidated and I can color them as I choose. Great fun including my drawings on blank gift cards. This book is a keeper for years to come.

Not as good I was expecting after having purchased her Botanical Line Drawing book, which is fantastic.
