This is an incredible carpet cleaning product, it's truly a game-changer! With cream carpets and two dogs prone to accidents, I was desperate for a solution. Thankfully, I found this gem. The process is simple: I tend to dab/blot the stained area with toilet roll, spray the product, wait 10 minutes, then place a microfibre cloth over the top and stand on it to force the product to soak in. For tougher stains, I repeat the process and leave it overnight. The packaging is great, the price is competitive, and shipping is prompt. Trust me, this product works wonders! Warning though - don’t mix this project with other cleaning products on light colour carpets as it has a tendency to cause a chemical reaction which can stain your carpets orange. Just use this product on its own.

I've used Vanish carpet products for years on the wool carpets in my holiday cottage - the foam is good for general high traffic areas, but there've been some more difficult stains that have been a bit of a problem, more recently a rather anonymous splat which someone had wiped up and it had dried in - I'd no idea what it was, but the other spot cleaners hadn't touched it, so I got this Vanish Gold, more in hope than expectation.This product cleared it completely. Gone. Wouldn't have known anything had been splatted.So I gave this a go on another old carpet stain which had been around for a long time - I occasionally have another run at it and it's barely visible, but I know it's there, and it bugs me, so I gave it a go with this. Gone.I did give both stains a good dosing - not to soak the carpet entirely, but a generous application. Gently scrubbed it in and left it overnight - the instructions say 5 mins max but I got waylaid. Revisited it next morning and there was nothing there, and the carpet fibres hadn't suffered any colour loss or damage.This is also really effective on anonymous stains on the upholstery of sofas and chairs where I haven't got time to, or can't, remove the covers for washing on changeover. These are mostly hot drinks the guests have accidentally slopped on the sofa, or a dog has slobbered. Or something - but it gets rid of them, too and the upholstery is pristine again ready for the next assault.I've used this in my own house for the greasy tide mark left by my own GSDs when they've lain on the floor up against the sofa, or wiped their whiskers on the chair backs, thinking I won't know. I don't normally fuss about the grime my own dogs make in the house, but I'm a bit fussy about the cottage, and I'm well pleased with this. Good stuff. I've got some more of this ready for the next 'emergency.'

Vanish has always done a good job when I needed to spot clean my carpet so I always keep a bottle handy even though it is a little pricey

Why did you choose this product over others?:I don’t leave it on it bleaches the carpet and leaves it splotchy. I just squirt it on and rub it off/in

Hmm, I am always searching for something to actually get stains out. This product sort of half gets them out but I suspect you'd have to use it straight off, rather than after the staining event. Its okay, smell is okay and easy to use, but I can't see that much difference to be honest. Worth a try.
