Superbe Collection of Noh and Kyogen masks
Extensive review of this collection made by Bernard Le Dauphin, famous French Antiquaire of Japanese arms and amours. The collection which the Tokyo museum came to examine and authentify in Paris is extensive and complete with pieces going from the 14th century to the 18th. Pictures made by the Dutch photographer, Bart van Bussel greatly illustrate the text written by Mr Le Dauphin.A must have for Noh mask lover.

Over-priced amateurish book with some interesting photos for comparison.
Overall, this is an amateurish, over-priced book that could have used a professional editor to correct and tighten up the text. It does provide color photos of some interesting masks that are helpful to compare with those in other collections, but unless you can get this book at a substantial discount, it isn't worth the list price. Put your money towards gettin a copy of Stephan Marvin's "Heaven has a Face, so does Hell", if you don't already have one. That's certainly the best book on the subject in English, bar none.
