Her serenity shatters when Franco gently pressures her to have a baby. That suggestion, on top of her having just overdubbed the voice of a rape victim, triggers a nightmare in which she is a terrified child creeping through the halls of her childhood home into her father's study. Transformed overnight from a confident young woman into a hysterical, jealous harridan, Sabina flies to the United States to visit her older brother Daniele (Luigi Lo Cascio). Fairly certain by now that she suffered incestuous abuse by her father, she is desperate to hear Daniele's version of events, and eventually he spills the rest of the beans. By the time Sabina squeezes the last details of childhood horrors from Daniele, there are no major secrets left to expose, although the movie foolishly pretends otherwise.
