Oz and Riley
An interesting, fascination story of a blended family of sorts. A Delta operative finding out he is an uncle with custody of a nephew he had never met. Then when he thought everything was going fairly smoothly, he was an uncle to a niece he didn’t know existed. And what a horrific situation she came from. Spellbinding!

Shielding Riley!
Ahhhh!! That’s the feeling when I finish reading a Susan Stoker book! There’s tension, frustration, anxiety, love, intimacy, soul-deep-tenderness, edge of your seat drama, and of course the HEA! Yeah, I LOVE reading Susan Stoker books.Shielding Riley is the 5th book in the Delta Team Two series, and it was fantastic. Porter ‘Oz’ Reed just finds out he is an uncle as the CPS agent delivers his 10-year-old nephew, Logan, to him. Also, letting him know his only sister is dead (murdered). He hasn’t had contact with her in over a decade and having a nephew (who needs looking after) is news to him. Who killed her and why? Is there danger to Logan? What secret is he hiding? There is always a twist or something you just didn’t see coming, and in Shielding Riley, I was taken by surprise!Riley is Oz’s next-door neighbor in the condo complex he lives in. She has just broken up with her boyfriend, rather loudly, and Oz plants himself in plain view so the ex won’t get any ideas when Riley is throwing him out.He turns to her for help with his nephew and from there a friendship is formed. I love the way Susan invites us readers into her stories and just hooks you from the beginning. You know there will be drama, but the feistiness of the women who are strong and helpful will prevail, and the men will be there to protect and love. Oz is a protector; he feels deeply and isn’t afraid to let it show. My type of man! Riley is loving and loveable; she helps bring the new family together.Shielding Riley can be read as a standalone, but to truly understand the relationship between Oz and his fellow Delta teammates, reading the entire series is the best way to go.

4 stars.
Once again a very good story. Unfortunately I knew what was going to happen because I went to the reviews and the very first one I read had spoilers. That was disappointing. The H is a Delta Force operative and the h is his neighbor. They officially meet for the first time when she's breaking up with her loser boyfriend. That's when the H finds out he has a ten year old nephew and he's now the guardian. He asks the h for help because he's overwhelmed and is unfamiliar with raising kids.I didn't like the "nicknames" the H called the h. Her name is Riley and for the first half that's what he called her. Then I start seeing Rile and I start thinking it's a spelling mistake. Soon after that he shortens it more to Ri.This is the third book I've read in this series and I've noticed that the very last chapter always promotes the next couple books in this series.Anyway, this book was an enjoyable read and I'd recommend if you've read the previous books in this series.

This story will grip your heart and stay with you long after your are finished reading it
This story about Porter "Oz" Reed and Riley Rogers will rip your guts out because of the subject matter dealt with in this story. Oz has seen some horrible things as an Army Delta soldier but nothing can prepare him for what he finds after he discovers he has a nephew. His nephew Logan is 10 and is dumped on his doorstep after his mom is murdered. Riley is Oz's next-door neighbor and he turns to her for help because he doesn't have a clue about kids. Riley and Logan have some things in common and they hit it off a bit better than he and Oz do at first. As Logan reveals more of his time spent with his mom, Oz realizes how much he misses his sister and regrets not reaching out to her. Logan is settling in with Oz and when Gillian agrees to watch Logan when the team gets deployed, it's Riley who ends up with Logan, a bond having already been formed. Logan learns to trust Oz and Riley and they, in turn, learn how to parent while falling in love. But Riley's ex has plans for her and Logan has a secret to share that is explosive.Ms. Stoker evokes feelings in the reader that just tears at your guts and then by the end the tears have healed and you are looking forward to the next installment. The subject matter in this was horrendous and while we are used to seeing these horrors take place mostly overseas in Ms. Stoker's books, horrible things happen on US soil as well. What happens in this story is horrible but it is realistic. This story could have easily been ripped from today's headlines. Ms. Stoker grabs hold and doesn't let go. These characters worm their way into your heart as the story unfolds. I really liked Riley as she is very adaptable and seems to know the right thing to say to Logan. Oz is alpha and talks dirty during sex and he is a loving uncle and will stop at nothing to eliminate any threat to his loved ones. Another page-turner that will grip your heart.

Wow. Great story
It's finally Oz's time to fall hard and fast for his next door neighbor Riley. It wouldn't be a Susan Stoker book if there weren't danger, unexpected surprises, ex-boyfriends and so much more coming along as well. Would be a boring read if it was smooth sailing... Anyway. A very heart-warming story about trust, love and adjusting to very new situations no one could have ever dreamed about. Perfect. Can't wait for Lucky and Devyn to get together in the next book of the series.

Slow build, big finish
Susan Stoker has written another great story. In many ways, it reminds me of Rescuing Harley. Just a lovely story of two people who meet and fall in love. While each story has lovely nuances, Shielding Riley has more menace about it. I love that our hero is in turn, baffled, confused, concerned, bewildered and overwhelmed but above all else, overjoyed at the situation he finds himself in. He is also not afraid to show his emotions, a good lesson for everybody. Our heroine shows gumption continually and is an even match for our hero.....not always so! The story builds until the action at the finale is ALMOST unexpected. Thoroughly enjoyable, yet another I stayed up late to finish. I swear Susan Stoker will lose me my job one day as I have to finish her books once I start them. You will too!

A homerun
Some authors write good books. Others, like Susan Stoker, write amazing stories. Porter(Oz) and Riley are definitely one of my favourite couples. And when you add Logan in....well magic. The storyline flowed smoothly and had just enough twists and turns to keep me riveted. The emotions were real.

Scary
There were parts in this where I was sitting on the edge of my seat, terrified that things were going to get really bad. Then there were parts where I felt sick to my stomach and my heart broke. But through it all was a warm feeling from the blossoming relationship between Oz and Riley.
