Dyson0020203DY-91898902 Genuine Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) Part

Bought this part for my DC42 Dyson. because it would stay powered on and pressing the red power button would not turn it off. Seemed like a no-brainer that power switch was the issue so ordered it. After taking apart, I tested by pressing directly on the existing switch with my finger- turns out it worked perfectly, turning the vacuum on and off as expected. Then after some examination, I noticed that red plastic power button did not have quite enough travel to push down on the power switch. I cut a coil off of the spring that the power button presses against and it worked fine when reassembled. Only thing I can figure is that over time the spring stretched and did not have as much compression to allow movement necessary to contact power switch. Did not need the new power switch, but now I have an extra if needed and only out $10.

I had a Dyson DC33 vacuum that would not stay on. I would press the button (and if I held it down) it would work fine. After a little research I discovered this switch was the likely culprit. It took about 5 minutes to install and resolved my issues. It was great to realize, that even though I am not extremely "handy", that I was able to save over $100 by doing this myself. The only point of note is you do need a specialty torx screw driver.The following are the steps I took to replace the switch1.) Ensure vacuum is not plugged into the wall!!!!!2.) Remove the wand from the handle (fully extend it and it will pop out)3.) Locate and remove the 4 torx head screws (may vary by model) directly behind the cover that goes over the power switch4.) Remove the switch cover5.) The replaceable switch should be in plain view6.) Pull out switch and remove the two leads (one on each side)7.) Install the new switch and test (DO NOT test while holding the switch, unless you want a bit of a jolt, TRUST ME!)8.) Put back together and vacuum until your heart is content!It's that easy!

After 12 years my Dyson finally quit. Found a YouTube video on the repair, ordered the part and bam son I’m back in business. This was a solely repair and the part was perfect.

Part was as advertised. It is the exact switch the manufacturer used in the original assembly! Super simple to change out the failed switch without having to take it to a repair shop.

The start/stop switch went out on my Dyson vacuum cleaner. Bought this switch. Go to You Tube and see how easy it is to replace. Works great now!

Using u-tube video and the parts ordered from Amazon, I was able to fix our Dyson vacuum and probably saved several hundred dollars .
