I'm a PhD Candidate in Computer Science, so i'm on one computer or another nearly every waking moment. This is my go-to mouse for everything. I have four computers between home and school that i use so i've bought more than one of these so i don't have to remember to carry one around. Here are some review criteria:Responsiveness: The arrow moves just as i'd expect when i move the mouse. Other laser-mice have been too sensitive and i'll overshoot what i need to click on (always fun to click the exit button instead of maximize!) LED mice have been too weak and don't move as fast as i'd think or are too depending on the surface i use the mouse on so they stall along the way. This mouse, is just right.Durability: I've had one bounce around in my backpack for months and never had a problem! I've also dropped it on the floor and the worse thing that happened was my language.Battery Life: Literally so long that when the batteries FINALLY died in one, i was convinced my computer was trying to lock up for over a day. I'm glad the little red light caught my eye or i'm not sure what i would've ended up doing.Gaming: I don't use a ton of extra buttons when i game and don't need surgical precision, i've never had a problem with any game using this mouse.I'd hate to call something "perfect" but i've seriously never had any problem or disappointment with this product.

V450 Nano Black is no longer available
I had received a wrong V450 (V450 for Notebook instead of the V450 Nano), 3 days after the estimated delivery date. I had to return it on the day I received it. The replacement was delivered on the estimated delivery date, only to find that it was again of a wrong colour. The black one you see in the image (black body + red trim) seems no longer available, but at least they could have updated the image or stated the black + red trim model is no longer available. Amazon.co.jp (Amazon in Japan) has never made this type of basic mistake and I was not happy with this transaction. The mouse itself seems ok, except the Duracell batteries included were made in China instead of the U.S. The laser tracking works just as good as optical tacking. The USB receiver is small enough to leave it on your notebook. The best feature is the elastomer (i.e., rubber) side, which usually gets slippery with your hand. The mouse also works on newer versions of Windows (I run Windows-7 SP-1). I question its durability, though. Try not to drop it on hard floor or the locking prongs on the battery lid would probably break off. When it comes to quality, I do not tolerate compromise. The laser tracking does not emit visible beam, but NEVER look into the hole or you may mar your vision in the future.

Great little mouse, not just for laptops
We bought a similar mouse (also Logitech) to use with our old laptop, and my husband still uses that one with his new laptop. When I was buying a laptop, I decided to get this mouse, because it had the smaller USB receiver which fits inside the battery compartment when not in use. It has worked great for me for over a year. It's very precise and easy to control and fits easily into my laptop bag. It doesn't have a lot of extra buttons that I accidentally press, and it feels comfortable enough in my hand, though not perfect. When I purchased a netbook last year, I bought another one to use with that, and I've been very happy with that mouse also. The batteries last a long time, and I've never had a time when the mouse did not connect adequately. On my desktop, I'd had an old Microsoft mouse which was very comfortable and ergonimic, but was difficult to control no matter how much I adjusted it. The cursor was just not precise enough for me. I switched to a Logitech MX Revolution Cordless Laser Mouse (Black) back when these cost $99. This mouse was very precise and I loved the control that I had with it, but it was very uncomfortable in my hand and the ergonomics of it didn't suit me at all. What I liked least, though was that the wireless connection for it never worked well and the it was always dropping out. It finally stopped working completely, and I decided to buy another of the Nano V450s for my desktop and I have not regretted it. It's a little small and I have a tendency to hold it a bit sideways, so the ergonomics are not perfect, but the precision and control is as good as or better than the MX Revolution and I have never had a problem with it dropping out or not working. Unlike with my wireless keyboard, I don't have to constantly reposition the receiver to get it in the right spot. It works fine with the little receiver plugged into my monitor, but it also came with USB attachment thing with a wire so that you can move the receiver a little closer. Either way, it works just fine, and is one of the best mice I've ever used. I'd love it if they made a slightly larger model for use with desktops, but I'm happy with this one.I now own and use three of these mice, and I just bought another for my parents to use with their laptop.Edited to add one little caveat: My netbook is an HP 311. This mouse works beautifully with that computer, but if I restart the computer with the USB receiver plugged in, the computer won't boot up all the way. The same thing happens with my daughter's Mini 311 with the same model mouse. My husband is still using the older Logitech mini laser mouse with the larger USB receiver with his netbook, and that one doesn't have this problem. Even so, it's not a big deal. I just unplug the mouse and store the receiver when I shut down the computer. The only time it's really a problem is if the computer restarts by itself when I'm not paying attention.
