Thinner material than ever. Durability unknown as I returned them.
I looked at these as I opened the little package and thought "Pearl Azumi sent the wrong item, are these socks?" actually no, these are the 80 dollar bike pants I ordered. Much flimsier than the last 2 pair that I have used of that brand. They were not comfortable for the few seconds I tried them on. So I sent them back and ordered Louis Garneau CbCarbon 2 shorts. In all fairness, the Pearl Azumi's may have worked out but I was worried about getting stuck with another pair that I hate and can't return cause I used them plus the Carbon 2's are double the money so I pray they are as comfortable as my old Pearl Azumi shorts that I love.

Best Cycling Shorts
I have been using PEARL IZUMI Men's 10.5" Attack Cycling Shorts for many years. They fit as advertised, and they are comfortable. They are good value for the money.

Not what I expected
I’ve been wearing attack shorts for years. This last pair was a bit of a disappointment.

Pearl Izumi’s least expensive cyclin shorts
For the price these shorts are decent and the shammy is fairly comfortable. However, I have several pairs of older shorts of this same name and price range and the quality has definitely dropped since I purchased the older pairs. Pearl, Adam Azumi shorts are one of the more reliable brands but I would suggest that you consider going up one or two price ranges to get a better quality short and quite honestly I think you need to look at them in the store to evaluate the quality before you purchase them. I’m not saying don’t get them on Amazon but you Gotta know what you’re buying ahead of time. These are not the same shorts that I purchased in the past, or at least not nearly the same quality.

Changed design
I bought this to replace an older version of Attack shorts. The pad design changed and the inseam is at least an inch longer, too close to the tendons on the back of my knee. It takes a few wearings before the pad hugs my body while off the bike. I like the previous version better.

Weight Weenies, Rejoice!
Weight Weeenies are a loud and proud segment of the cycling community that constantly badger manufacturers to ignore any other consideration for cycling equipment other than weight. Your current $3,000 wheelset that's 5% lighter, but only 50% as strong as your last wheelset? Weight Weenies. Titanium Bolts that get easily stripped or rounded off -- but save you 2 or 3 grams? Weight Weenies. Drivetrain components that cost twice as much, last half as long, and save you a full pound? Weight Weenies. Folks talking about saving 15 or 30 seconds over a 50 mile ride by optimizing their wedge bag so that it only contains tools that aren't capable of fixing any real problem? Weight Weenies again.Ah, but I digress. What's relevant here is that the Weight Weenies have won another round. That's the only reason I can figure for the re-design of these shorts (surely, it wasn't to save cost or make them objectively worse!) Net, others have posted pictures, but I'll simply say that these are lighter, tighter, and feature less padding than the prior version of the same shorts - -which are my favorites for mid-to-longish rides (2-6 hours). These things are ok for shorter rides, and I'm sure that their lighter weight and streamline profile will save me a second or two over a 50 mile ride compared to the prior version of these shorts. BUT, the lack of padding guarantees that you'd never really want to ride 50 miles in these things. They're kind-of a 90-120 minute type of short, and then, only after you've got your sit bones conditioned and up-to-speed.Net: If you're an infrequent rider, or you take longer rides, I'd find something else. The old version of these was awesome. The new, well, Weight Weenies everywhere will be wearing these.

Finally!
Most of the unknown brands here on amazon offer way too much padding for me. But, these... are just right. I simply don't require literally 6 feet of padding. That stuff gets me and the twig and berries in binds. That hurts. It turns what's supposed to be a fun, healthy activity to a ride from hell. But these.. WONDERFUL!
