This is the perfect (and better) replacement for the Sony VCT-VPR1. I went to buy the Sony and could not find it... but this seemed to be the same. After testing it, it controls the camera perfectly (Sony Handycam). However, the build quality seems much better than the Sony (how can that be Sony is great!). What I mean is it holds the camera super securely as the second prong that goes in the camera bottom can be screwed in to secure the camera too. Also, it is much more controllable as the gears to move it around and damper the movement seem to fine tune better. Easy to setup, a tad heavier and sturdier and all in all a more perfect version of the Sony VLT-VPR1.

I was a little concerned about the quality of this product since it's a brand I did not recognize, but this is a very well made and sturdy and is packaged well. It is quite compact and lightweight when folded up - easy to carry in the convenient, high-quality carrying case. I had bought the Sony HDR-CX405 video cam and was looking for a compatible tripod/remote. Various sources indicated only some of the camcorder features worked with the remote, but that is not true. All of the features, including grid line function (not available on the camcorder itself), power, and zoom worked well. I am pleased with this purchase. (Side note: the only slightly sub-optimal thing is the instruction manual is small and a little hard to read. But once you get past that, it is actually helpful in understanding how the different components work - though that is also intuitive.)

Very sturdy tri pod really like the remote! The smoothness of focus is excellent.i feel it could be a smoother movement for panning the camera

Good price, great product

Tripod works well and remote controls are good. However the tripod itself is plastic and you have to be careful handling the unit. All adjustment points are plastic and subject to break if not handled carefully, I would purchase this unit again if needed to.

Unfortunately this product is built to a low price point. The tripod is stiff and cheap and basically comes for free. Annoyingly the remote itself creaks and cracks as you grip it and move the tripod head around (I use it to film my kids sports). The Sony handycam’s mic is plenty sensitive enough to pick up these sounds. But it still gets four stars as it’s the only product with this functionality and it makes a huge difference being able to zoom in and out whilst rapidly moving the camera. The ‘slow’ zoom function works really well. If you’re planning on mounting it to a better tripod head then buy the standalone version as you’ll struggle to find a decent tripod head that will fit the 10mm shaft.

I have been looking for a controller to use with my Sony RX10 IV that would give me smooth zoom. I have purchased several controllers that are ok but nor very good zoom quality. This is the first on I have purchased that I can zoom as if I were using a camcorder. There are times I want to have a small footprint when shooting and the RX10 IV gives me that flexibility. With this new remote, I can now have a smaller footprint when shooting. I do not use the tripod that came with the remote since I own multiple tripods and monopods. I just slip the remote off the handle, attach it to my pan bar and away I go. The only downside is it is a bit long but it is designed to be a handle. Love the product!!!

This tripod is completely plastic and is therefore is not able to be stable as a much better built metal tripod. That being said, this is a nice tripod that can be used for purposes that require flat solid surfaces to use. Anything that would cause stress on the tripod would cause damage or complete breakage to the tripod. As for the remote, it to is plastic and is not a smooth finished product, there is NO sensitivity with the zoom control, it is rough and does not function smoothly. As my title suggests this tripod is for the budget minded user. If you are looking for a extremely well made tripod, this "Video Remote Control Tripod" is NOT for you. If you are limited in your buying level, this will work for you, just remember it is ALL plastic and will require you to be very careful where and how you use it. I do NOT recommend this tripod for any cooler or cool weather as it being plastic it become damaged or broken.
