OM SYSTEM Olympus LH-40B Lens Hood (Black)

It does it's job to protect the lens and keep out stray light. It's overpriced (as are all OEM lens hoods) but it fits nicely and looks like it belongs there.

I owned one of the after market hoods and it never fit completely right on my lens. This genuine Olympus hood is solid with no slop - you get what you pay for in this instance.

OK, so this is a really nice lens hood, and I gave it four stars because of that. It fits very snugly on the 45/1.8, looks good (for whatever that matters), and does its job. It fits over the lens in reverse for storage together in the bag.But as untold Olympus owners have said in the past, there are two problems with the hood:1. It should have come with the lens, and2. If it didn't come with the lens, it should have cost no more than $8-$10. The retail price of this hood, which is only a single piece of plastic weighing a few grams, is truly offensive.I'm not going to be petty and rate this at one or two stars, because a customer considering this can make their own conclusions based on the price. I merely knocked off one star for poor "value for money."But seriously, this hurts Olympus I think. Recently, they seem to have come to their senses, because the 25/1.8 which is based on the 45/1.8 and looks nearly identical other than proportions comes with its own hood, which is identical to this one except for size.

Fast shipment and exactly what is says! It does not fit the 14-42 pancake lens, but we bought the original and we're all set! It fits our 45mm as well.

Doesn’t fit the size indicsyed

I did not purchase this item as used but received an item that was already opened and re packaged. The little cardboard box the lens hood came in had been ripped open previously.I actually usually search for used or “open package” items to save money, but I don’t appreciate buying an item in new condition and receiving an open box.Other than that, item is OEM, thanks.

The hood threads onto the lens with a short twist, where it then snaps into place. The hood can be reversed onto the lens for storage in my bag, which makes for a compact unit that is less susceptible to crushing, like it might be if stored by itself. I really like that feature.What else is there to say except, really - I think the hood should have come with the lens itself, instead it is purchased separately, and the price should be about $20 total. So because it is on the expensive side, and I am forced to pay it to get the utility, I subtracted a star.
