The High Walls of Jerusalem
An extraordinary account of the developments of two generations leading to the Balfour Declaration of 1917. Mr. Sanders was a consummate historian who had a firm grasp of six languages, and who pored through literally thousands of official, primary-source documents of the periods. For anyone who wishes a better understanding of how modern Israel came to be, along with the issues surrounding modern-day Middle Eastern problems, this 1983 book is as timeless, and priceless, as if it were hot of the press.

Very Detailed
Reader beware. This is very detailed. This is not a summary or overview. It's practically a day-by-day recount of every event and correspondence related to the development of the Balfour Declaration over a three-year period. The research work that went into this is unimaginable.
