Review: Powerful, long-lasting light from a stout, small, versatile device - SUBOOS Gen 2 Ultimate LED Rechargeable Tent Lantern and 5200mAh Power Bank This is a very bright, lightweight, versatile lighting device with impressive battery power and excellent 'build' quality. Its features and characteristics are explored below in some detail. Although this lantern was designed to light a tent (even a large one) very comfortably and is built to be water resistant enough to endure a rainstorm, it also can serve as an inexpensive and bright emergency substitute for house interior lighting during a multi-hour power outage. Unlike barrel-shaped lanterns built to be carried around, this was designed to be set or hung in place (but it can easily be carried around to provide light across large areas indoors or outside). Opening it unleashes surprising brightness. It uses 12 white and 3 red LEDs for 280 lumens on high (white light) and 100 lumens on medium (white light). This SUBOOS rechargeable tent light is the kind of item that can be useful for more than just camping. While it's designed as a hanging LED canopy or tent light, I also like the idea of having something like this available around the house for power outages or anywhere you need portable lighting without having to rely on an outlet. The hanging design is especially practical. Being able to position a light overhead can illuminate an area much better than a flashlight that's only pointing in one direction. For a tent, canopy, RV setup, patio area, or other outdoor space, that style makes a lot of sense. The product is also rated at up to 500 lumens, giving it the ability to provide substantially more light than a small personal flashlight. Another feature I appreciate is that it's rechargeable.
